What is Your RL Age?

It was suggested to me last night by the brilliant Buster Peel that some of the cultural clashes and divides in SL are caused by the generation gap and by age differences. Of course, on the Internet, you can't see someone's age and that means the age-old obstacle of age and agism is thankfully removed, enabling many bright young minds to be free. It also prevents many old bright minds from helpfully reminding the bright young minds that they should be doing their homework or finding that useful after-school job, or letting their Moms know they are out this late.

This is a poll that nobody can say has the categories "wrong" or "biased". You're either an age, or you're not LOL whereas great minds can differ on the issue of whether you're a professional if you do marketing.

Of course, somebody might bark at me leaving out those older 75 -- please DO complain, senior citizens! And they could bark that I put 18-21 in its own category, but that's because at least in the US, every state has its own age of majority, and this can be 18 or some and 21 for others, and 21 is widely agreed to be a kind of cut-off point for the entrance to adulthood.

I'm 35, and I certainly don't feel "old" yet. On the other hand, knowing what I know now, If I had a time machine, I would go back to my younger self and smack me SO hard... Youth really is wasted on the young.

I'm curious... since these polls are in no way scientifically accurate, or statistically significant, what is the point of them? Its not a random sample, since only those interested in replying bother... and those are of the subset of players that even noticed the poll. That subset is part of another subset of players that even bother reading the forums, as well.

I'm not talking about this poll in particular, though of course it is included, but all polls in the forums.

For fun. If it were something discussion on something negative and opinioniated (containing both), then yes, those be those pointless. Well, this is pointless to, but for fun.

From just the thread so far, one observation that stands out to me is that more people in the age group of 31-40 are willing to post their age along with their name (even though the poll did not require/ask for it). No idea what that means of course, hehe.. Just an observation.
