Anyone recall that old book Animal Farm? That had all sorts of depictions of of people as animals, but that was an anti big government book wasn't it?

I interpreted Animal Farm literally and my life has been all the better for it. :)

One of the great loopholes in the SL forums is that truly hateful material can be published provided that names aren't named. ...
This seems like a pretty weak argument to me.

I did not find the orginal post offensive and judging by the response it got (several folks saying it was the best post they had ever read!), not many others did either.

It seems to me that the whole thrust of your argument is that of the "animal" language, which while definitely used by the Nazis to cast Jewish people in a certain light has also been used throughout history by almost every group of people I have ever heard of.

I distinctly remember calling my sister a "cow" just two days ago. (I was mad :))

To relate this post to Anti-Semitism, is just going way over the top and creates a problem where none existed previously. IMO your apparent attempt to cast this post in the light of "hate material" is hatefull in itself, more so than the original material.

Now folks, let's put this in perspective... Ulrika has her nose out of joint because I said this about her, and this is the best she could do in the 'let's be catty' department.

More amusing than bothersome, especially when one reviews history and sees Ulrika is very likely the most deliberate hateful person on the forums now that Madame Neva is banned. At least with the social inepts, it's a case of malice through ignorance. With Ulrika, it is almost always bitterness or spite.

For my part, I chuckle and thank her. People always tell you where their buttons are, if you're paying attention. Apparently, Ulrika takes offense at the notion that her efforts here are judged little more than casual entertainment.

Boo hoo. Let me just go cry myself to sleep.

Aside to Ulrika -- next time you feel the need to project your anti-semitic anxieties, you might want to pick someone who isn't a child of Juda. (chuckle)

From what I've seen you're a likely contender for that which you so easily accuse Ulrika of being.

If we ban posts of Ulrika's example then we would have crossed the line into being to PC. I don't want to read posts that are stripped of all drama and emotion. If I wanted that I would read cleaning fluid instructions and such. No, I want meat and potatoes in the forum posts, are we not men (and womens) or a buch of sissy girls prancing around in pink too too's.

Mik

P.S.
I'm unclear if 'too too's' is spelled correctly, perhaps a spelling nazi could enlighten me.

U.Z. and C.S. ....I've been waiting for this match-up for a long time.

In the annals of the forum gladiatorial games, U.Z. and C.S. have interesting similarities of style and equipment. Both carry main-hand Maces of Obnoxious Hyperbole - high on spirit and strength stats, low on agility, with serious fire-damage procs. Both open their offensive moves with a powerful, spinning swing for the head or neck. And both are dual-wielders who follow up with an off-hand thrust to the gut.

But there, the similarities in combat style end. For an off-hand weapon, C.S. carries a Vorpal Axe of Confidence, dipped in Poison of Extreme Self-Aggrandizement. While such a weapon can stun her opponents into making silly and ineffective ripostes, the axe is slow and fairly blunt, without much style or control. More often than not C.S. misses with her off-hand follow-up, and the poison spray merely catches some in the audience, who are deluded by the narcotic into believing that they've just witnessed something "brilliant". But when she hits with both the mace and the axe, things can get messy very quickly, and the crowd loves that.

On the other hand, U.Z. carries a Blazing Rapier of Irony in her off-hand, and its reach and amazing deflection are perfect for her style. It's not a crowd-pleaser, because she wields it so quickly - and many of the forum onlookers simply cannot see what is going on. More often than not, U.Z. will follow her mace swing with a deft step-in-and-thrust, driving the irony clean through her opponent without the crowd (and sometimes the opponent), even noticing.

One should not think that U.Z. has a clear advantage, however. C.S. has surer feet in the shifting sands of the forums general floor, while U.Z. favors the firmer footing on the bedrock of Neualtenberg and off-topic. U.Z. is a solid, consistant performer who never seems to falter, even when things are grim. But C.S. responds well to the cheers of her sycophants, and can be inspired by them to do greater and greater DPS.

There are other gladiators of epic stature in these forums games - N.N., known as "The Bludgeon", whose command of facts and "never-give-up" style has worn down many challengers; b.S., who has brilliantly turned BS into both a formidable weapon and an artform; C.M, not the best at anything, very good at everything, the mambo-crocodile of the balanced attack; and even the druid-gladiator T.T., whose healing powers and ability to play to the crowd make him invulnerable to attack; and others, besides - but the C.S/U.Z. contest promises to be a balanced and classic contest. Popcorn isn't good enough for this show - it's strictly rum, rye, caviar and seaweed crackers.

So far as writing anything worth reading goes, they both suck. If they were TV shows they couldn't make UPN.

sigh....

That's the crowd the honorable gladiators have to play to. Is it any wonder so many carry maces and axes these days, instead of elegant weapons like the stilletto or the rapier?

Boring and tedious <> entertainment.

Convoluted sentence structures, sesquipedalian proclivities, and hatefulness don't add up to entertainment for most people. Their writings aren't worth the toilet paper to wipe them off with.

I'd say it's sad to see such minds go to waste, but it would be more accurate to say that it's sad to see such minds. Period.

Seriously I haven't had that good a belly laugh for quite some time -- as Billy the bard put it once:

For those who have asked before, "What is hyperbole?" the thread opening post is your textbook example.

This thread has been brought to you by the letters B and S.

I'm afraid to look that up because it might stay in my History, and I sometimes let others use my machine.

Okay, I tried anyway, but got distracted by what turned up on Google....
Did you mean: sessile gynecological rastafarianism

All I can think of now is pube dreads, and it's making me a little queasy. I have to go to bed.

(BTW, that is seriously what you get on Google when you try to do a search for your phrase. :D )
