YadNi Monde feels IGNORED by the Lindens

Lindens are able to ignore useful people for the community.

When i first arrived in SL i was thinking there could be an equal chance for all in here as long as what you do is good. Very fast, I came with the idea and concept of the JUNKYARD, which is one of the MOST useful places in SL. A bit of history: April 2004, a new guy arrives in SL, he does what we all did, he searches "free" in Find Menu and finds dozens of places, unorganised, driving inventory to a mess. The guy has the ability to THINK and begins with an idea that will be a revolution to the SL community (you can now find MANY junkyard copies on some isolated islands) named the JUNKYARD. A place where you can find ALL the freebies of the "world", all organised by genre with boxes giving Clean Folders not to Mess Out the Newbie s Inventories anymore. As it takes some tons of time to organise the Frebies into Boxes, and because Land is NOT FREE to rent, the guy decides to put each box (wich generally contains from 20 to 150 free things in it) to sell for ONE Linden Dollar. Very soon, TONS of people had passed by the JUNKYARD and indicated it to the Newbies at the Welcome Area, and the Name of the Guy becomes slowly FAMOUS amongst the entire Community, YadNi Monde, for YadNi s Junkyard. One day, a guy named Hamlet L (i wont tell the family name here to keep the anonymous thing) contacts the guy named YadNi (somewhere in July or August 2004) to possibly have an Interview with him... Today, in January 2005, i still wait for that interview, and other interviews other people contacted me for too (what are you waiting for, and if you plan not to interview me, why to IM me and ask me if that was possible ?)... And also, I am now one of the most famous Names of SL, my JUNKYARD is an INSTITUTION and still, there is no JUNKYARD in the LINDENS TOP PICKS... WHY ????? (favoritism?prolly!)

And now let s talk about Group Projects.

One of the first Designers Groups i joined was SimHorror, wich became later the Bedazzle Group. At the very beginning of SimHorror, i was Foxy s Main Designer, and we were building an Island for Halloween, I remember spending HOURS on the terraformation of the Craziest Maze SL ever had, One Third of a Sim to loose visitors with the most LOW PRIM a Maze can be, something that had not been made before and that no one tried to copy because it s a MAD work to do. At that time Foxy was thinking of the next project for her island and as she chose Jamaica for it s name, she was thinking of something very Rasta ... when i mentionned it would be more fun to do something like UT, she found the idea good, and we knew what we d do next after SimHorror. The Simcast Group Grew up slowly, with new designers to join us to build this whole island to be freaky ans spooky and all for the Halloween Days. What we did. And SimHorror opened to public and became a HIT. But, at that time, No Lindens were part of the SimHorror Group and we had to do our own advertisement by HAND. Since the beginning, Foxy wanted to live in a Space Station, and with the success of SimHorror, she had it built, by the Excellent Jimmy, who is a Killer at building, and an OVERKILLER at texturing, i had less time and naturally, he became Foxy s Lead Designer, which is Good. The SimHorror Group melted and became Bedazzle. Lindens Joined in the team, since then, you can see Bedazzle advertised and it s work used EVERYWHERE on the SL site.....

I then joined Fey and Baccara s Group, Spellbound Events, to build a three sims project about Peter Pan. I had the mission of building the East Side of Olde London, with a Cemetary, and a Tavern. This was one of the biggest Designers Groups i was never involved with and Each Member could be named a "Rockstar Builder". We even had a Linden involved. The result work was a pure WONDER, it s been another HIT. And as it was Linden Supported, of course, we had advertisement for Neverland.

I am now into another project, another Team with High Specialists in Various Domains, together, we are building the NEXT HIT. But we have no Lindens in the Team, and like in SimHorror at the beginning, we have to advertise all by Hand =)

IN CONCLUSION: Even if you are Famous amongst the Community, Even if you have Revolutionnary Ideas, as long as you dont have a LINDEN personnally involved with the Project, they will keep it burried into SILENCE, and only the Community s Mouth to Ear is something you can count on. And I LOVE YOU ALL, and I BUILD FOR YOU ALL, and I THANK YOU ALL for the INTERREST YOU SHOW FOR MY WORK, still, i think the Lindens ARE NOT EQUALLY FAIR WITH ALL.

Awwww YadNi I'm am saddened to see you feel this way ! Let me assure you, I respect and admire what you have done for our world ! When I am wearing my mentor tag I pass out a folder with landmarks and yours is in there my friend ! Your junkyard and anti junkyard were two of the first places I visited/found when I came to SL. I hope you feel better about this real soon and know I am your friend !

I know what it's like. I had the saem thing happen. They made a post about creating a new Second Life trailer. I responded and talked to ... Catherine L (Hey, they're from the same family!) at some length regarding an opening in it. That was back in September or so. Anyways, she agreed that she wanted to see some of my things and that she'd get back to me ASAP...

Well, that was four months ago. The stuff I wanted to show then are now old stuff that I've since surpassed... and I don't even keep personal copies of them any more outside of my vendors. Concievably, someone that *bought* one could have been taken in my place and I wouldn't know. Hee.

Anyways, I suppose all I really wanted to know on that regard was if this trailer is still being made, or was made, etc... I just ranted without the intention to rant.

I guess it's cuz I'm stuck at work now. I need a creative outlet. And caffeine. Lots and lots of it...

... And yes, I do give out your Junkyard Visitor Card.
How about making a sign for loyal Junkyardians to display on their land? And hey, use those impressions ads at SLexchange too.

YadNi, I'm sorry hear you feel this way. I'm sure a whole lot of other people who do good works for the community have felt upset when their contributions don't get recognized in the Top Picks. That's why the Lindens have decided to phase out the Top Picks tab under the FIND menu, and to not provide funding for large scale projects. They are guiding their thoughts on these very issues, towards community involvement and support of projects.

Yadni, you are a icon in SL. I can't imagine SL without someone like you and your junkyard.

There should be a LL contact for any group project that will be open to the public, some sort of liason. LL could create a form where you list those who are working on the projects and the whole basis of the creation. Just a thought. And in return the project will be advertised for all to attend.

You don't need the Lindens to be famous, ya know.

I don't think I've ever made it to top picks either, but I don't really care. The Junkyard would seem to be a natural since the top picks are selected for the benefit of new users. I wouldn't take it too personally though. I think the top picks should show the places that the most people have added to their profile picks.

Another Short Story by Uncle YadNi:

It was a short time before my RL birthday, 16 th of October 2004, when Ferran Brodsky (HugZ) created the HIGH HEELS SHOES; I was TOTALLY Freaked Out by Them and asked Ferran for a Set of "special anims" for my Birthday that would allow the Creation of a Good Huge Bot Avatar. When Ferran finally made the anims, we decided it would be better to team up together on this, so that we could share the benefits, and we did, creating the FerYad Designs. And so i Designed the FerYad ExoPowArmoR FY02 while Ferran was Creating it s Animations to bring it to Life.
One day, as Ferran was walking around wearing the FY02 Freshly Finished, a Linden Bumped into her and and simply Blew a Fuse at the Suit s sight. He took Pics and without listening to Ferran saying it was a TWO persons Work, popped out as he arrived. The DAY AFTER, on the SL site, under "CREATE" tab, was a Picture of Ferran Wearing the FY02 and the credits were "Robot: Ferran Brodsky". Took me 3 Days to get at last my name there, IMing, and Mailing, Damn Pissed Off again ! And feeling bad about it OF COURSE. And after 3 days SHOUTING , you could read "Robot: Ferran Brodsky, YadNi Monde".
Oh, I didnt Mention, under "PLAY" tab, the Flamethrower is by Francis Chung, but also, the Buildings are by Jimmy Thompson and the Armors the Guys wear are by YadNi Monde, where does it Appear ????????

I loved Neverland, and taking Pics with my girl on top of that mountain just beside the Fireworks..oh yes..there were Fireworks..hehe. I WILL TRUELY MISS NEVERLAND! I would love to hear about any project to visit like that and anyone involved with the making of it should be recognized Linden or no Linden, if it is very popular.

wow Yadni looks like the discussion we had moved lot of things in your head, i wasnt thinking you would seriously do a public WHY , but yeah i agree qith the previous posters, Linden Lab deserve you some kind a respect.

When we talked about this i was also thinking about myself, some of the best Creators in SL are a bit left behind ^_^

Not to mention the fact that I still go there fairly often and once I got some money, took the time to rate you!!! So no, maybe the ppl in charge don't acknowledge it, but you provide a tremendous service to the game!

At times I've felt snubbed by both the Lindens and by many popular groups.

BTW I've tried to get into Spellbound a few times, with no success.

To be more reasonable, I suppose it's nothing personal, more of a matter of taste, timing and who knows who. Or an incentive to me to stop whining and start building bigger and better things.

so i guess communities need to promote their own heroes and not rely on the establishment to do it.

why not make some nice junkyard shirts we can wear? or some promo shirts for your upcoming evens? billboards in the sandboxes? surely there's something...

I think Jill's (I think it was Jill, or perhaps Jeff's) explaination was the most concise on the topic... they said that the Lindens simply can't play favorites, they have to remain impartial... and that that's the reason that most of the older Lindens don't rate, etc. <Never mind the fact that Linden rates don't count.>

It's because of that that I think even the big unique content developers like Yadni, Sensual, you, me, etc, will never really get more than a smile and a pat on the back for what we've done. It doesn't bother me. I would be flattered to end up publicized for something I've done, but I don't really actively seek it. I prefer the "See? They're basic shapes but you can make anything with them if you practice enough!" approach.

I'm still waiting for Kage Seraph's next birdie. And Cubey's ... new project that he BETTER FINISH OR I WILL DO IT MYSELF (How's that for blackma... er.... motivation?

And Thanks again for your Support, it just confirms what i said, you can be a Popular almost Rockstar but as you are a Blue guy, probably reluctant and French as Hell, the Authority keeps Dodging you... =/ And also, they keep dodging the Group Projects where a Linden isnt Personnally enlisted in, which makes UNFAIR PUBLICITY where some projects are held under Spotlights while others, as wonderful and creative as the pre mentionned ones have to be Self Litten by HAND with Torches.

One question for you. Do you confirm with the owners of every item that you are giving away that they are in fact intended to be given away, or do you just rely on finding free items around SL from other users and give them away? There are entire collections of works of players that became copyable through bugs/exploits in the past, and many do not want their work distributed

As i already said in a previous post, whatever is at the Junkyard in a box can be RETIRED ON THE FLY if it s Creator IMs me, I already performed such action, I always am Careful about What I put in my Boxes, meaning when i receive Dontations from Departing Peaople, I always Check if what i got is Currently for Sale by it s Creator, but still, sometimes an "object" (script, cloth, whatever) escapes my investigation. IM me if you are an Unhappy with the fact someting you made Spreads threw the Entire Community, and prolly help a lot, I will RETIRE IT ON THE FLY.

As a newbie I visited your Junkyard many times and I've also given away note cards that list landmarks to your junkyard and other places where newbies can pick up free items. I had intended to include your Junkyard in an article that I planned for SL Magazine awhile back but then I was not sure about the status of the magazine for a couple of months.

SL Magazine has started back up again with a new managing editor and technical advisor and things are moving again and I would very much like to do a story on your Junkyard and on Higbees Parks.

I need to run this past our editor as she assigns stories to me, but I think just based upon what you have listed in your initial post your accomplishments in SL would make a great story and should be acknowledged.

I will IM you in world.
