Problems in October 8th release:

One crash only: when I set Max Particles to its highest setting, my video blacked out.

Can't resize Inventory window.
Lost permission to modify a pair of shoes which had full permissions.
Video memory size options above 32mb are grayed out.
No sounds at all until I opened Gestures window.
Sound keeps phasing off and on.
Appearance setting for Torso Length was working in reverse (less is more).
Couldn't change Facial Definition after the first time I set it.
Turning on Ripple Water just turned all water black.
Frame rate was extremely low in Prelude (3-5fps) but good on the mainland (9-15fps).
Graphic distortions: small animated areas on the back of elbows and on faces. Facial distortion as in the earlier 1.1 Betas.

Running full screen 1024x768. Radeon 9200 LE 128DDR, Cat 3.8.

Erm, Gwyd, if by Mr. Linden you mean Philip, his name is Rosedale.
Linden was the street where Linden Lab's first office was located I think. The names of the first batch of sims (the southern ones) are all names of nearby streets.

1.1 Test

Well, its Thursday, 9 October and I'm crashing every minute or so, and I never did before during testing. It seems to be happening as I cross over sim borders and property lines.

Bummer, David.

What is your CPU/OS/GPU? Anyone else seeing similar crashes?

I reported all the crashes and I was actually a little glad; felt I wasn't doing my part before without any crashes under my belt!

So your CPU is "I reported all the crashes", your OS is "I was actually a little glad", and your GPU is a "felt I wasn't doing my part before without any crashes under my belt!"?

Oh, duh! I was on my new laptop, this time, so that might have something to do with the crashes. I never considered that. Its a Toshiba P25, running XP Pro on a Pentium 4 3 Gig, with 1024MB and an Nvidia Fx Go 5200 with 64 MB.

First time I've had more than a couple of minutes to try it out, and this is what I noticed...

I've got a black line running around the hips of my avatar which I can only get rid of by turning up the wrinkles on whatever pants I'm wearing. The line only shows on clothes, not on skin.

Yuki Sunshine's land does something strange to the mouse tooltips - once I've hovered the mouse over her land, all land shows as owned by her. Weird. But costmetic only, so not a problem really.

All clothing seems to have defaulted to creater nobody (or unknown or something like that). So for clothing creaters, any clothing you have inworld now will still get passed around. I guess there is not much can be done about this.

Ripples in water? more like waves to me :) I kinda expected the effect of wind over the water... instead I got water levels rapidly rising and lowering. A little misleading! (and yes, the water appeared and was the right colour).

Oh, and particles pretty :) mmm bump maps... shiney things... very little lag... I think you can zoom further than before, and it seemed to zoom much quicker. I like :D Can it go live soon, pretty please?

Everytime I crashed it was when I pressed Alt for camera movement, but not everytime I pressed it did I crash.

But everytime I crashed it was when doing this. Weird, could be due to camera mods they have done?

Bugs or Features?
10-12-2003 16:55
Has anyone else run into these, or is it just me?

1. Alert: You can only set your 'Home Location' on land you own.

2. Video memory settings higher than 32mb are grayed out. My card is a Radeon 9200 128DDR.

I definately had 128mb as an option. 256mb was greyed out though (which I'd expect, my gfx card only has 128mb of memory).

I have a 256mb card, and everything over 64 is greyed out.

Maybe it's the card that's the issue? Mine is a GeForce 4 Ti4800, running Detonator 44.03.

One thing I forgot to look at, and I can't check coz I'm at work :( is: when you choose rate from an object, does it rate the original creator or the current owner?

OK, so VRAM settings available are inconsistent. Could be a bug or a development issue. I'm going to continue to include it in bug reports now and then.

I've just upgraded from the Cat 3.7 driver to 3.8. I'll post here if it makes any difference in the issues I mentioned.

Cailyn - the creator can't be changed once an object is created.

There is a bug where the creator can be changed by linking together objects, but that is fixed in 1.1.

So in 1.1, rate->owner will refer to the current owner. Rate->Creator will refer to the original creator of the object.

Ex: If you make a hat, and tons of people buy it, every time someone rates the creator of that hat, they will be rating you.

What happens if different parts or prims in the final, linked object were made by more than one original creator? For example, my current Waterfall object uses some rocks which were originally Linden created. As you've said, the linked object currently has only my name as creator.
How will rating work for something like that?
