From: FlipperPA Peregrine Everyone time we quote someone aren't we "naming names"? This is getting a tad ridiculous... I just named Kris's name by quoting her post! And duly abuse reported! But thats the thing now isnt it? We've gone from 'waaah! it was a personal attack!' to 'waaah! I wuz named!'. But the advantage as a poster who likes to call people out is that I don't have to even make the effort to make an attack any more. I mean, why say 'Flipper is an asshole!' if I can just say 'Flipper...' and thats enough?

Wow. i had a suspicion that this thread would eventually go down in flames, just kinda expected it to be over....you know...billboards.
Totally respect everybodys right to discuss whatever blah blah blah, but consider this- is this really the place to be having the discussion curently in progress?

From: CalvinRichard Klein ... I realise you have a very good background in litigation and mediation but please cease use of those skills here. No one needs a third wheel and if they wanted to speak to you they would address you specifically. I understand this is the forums but when you see people addressing others by their name that usually means they are explaining something to a small group of people or one person. It is not needed for someone to constantly try to instigate with every post that it is made. With this in mind please rethink your actions. LOL! You really do come out with some priceless stuff when you're digging yourself a new hole, billy. And too cowardly to even admit you're you. *sigh*

From: Nephilaine Protagonist Wow. we thought this thread would eventually go down in flames, just kinda expected it to be over....you know...billboards. Well, it kinda did. Cat came along to be spiteful as usual, Charlotte called her on it, now Billy is trying to get one over on Charlotte but simply doesnt have the intelligence. And I'm just trolling as usual.

Killfile? We're not on USENET Kris - it really takes some amazing level of dimness to be able to lose an argument to me through lack of intelligence.

A bitch and gobshite you may be, but stupid you aren't (btw, readers, that's a compliment, not a personal attack. I know. Fine line.) (2) He manages adequately on the 'amazing level of dimness' front, don't you think?

Getting slightly back to topic, I'd like to post a few lines from my urban planning book, in the chapter about, curiously enough, billboards. From: someone I think that I shall never see A Billboard lovely as a tree Indeed, unless the billboards fall, I'll never see a tree at all. --Ogden Nash
From: someone Ogden Nash may never have seen A billboard he held dear But neither did he see A tree grossing 20 grand a year. --David Flint, Turner Advertising Company

Is that to suggest we tear down trees and put up billboards because trees are not profitable? I haveto agree with Nash... why, jsut the other day my friend and I bought some waterfront land... got rid of the house that was there and built a wetlands. -Ghoti

From: Kris Ritter and yours was just sweetness and light, wasnt it? btw, you named names as well if you want to be like that.
So what was your point? That you dont like yet another commercial venture in second life and hope it fails? color me surprised. You didnt even really have to make the post.. we just always assume you'd disagree by default, Cat.
As I already said in this thread, MetaAdverse is, in my opinion, an extremely well presented and implemented service. It fills a gap that I have always said exists in SL - the ability to get your stuff known INWORLD - not in these crappy forums that 99% of people dont read - at a reasonable cost, in an interesting way. Of course, I actually use it, so I know from experience. As opposed to jumping on a few assumptions.
I hope it thrives. Sincerely. Kris and Charlotte; If you are going to attack me for my statement then you better attack all these ppl in this same forum with the same damn view. "billboards have been around since beta this is an old concept. Will ppl like it? Probably as much as watching paint dry." Catherine Cotton " Billboards are as old as the grid, its not a new concept at all. They have come and gone and will return, and perhaps go again." Loki Pico "Billboards are NOT coming, they have been around since beta" Eggy Lippman "Like Eggy Said Billboards arent new...they arent reinovated hell they gave out note cards in beta. Streaming music or advertisment...pfft they had sound bites in them that when you touched them they played a sound...so Nope Not New not Reinovated none of the above just SOS different year." Shadow Weaver "Not sure whats special about your but, there have been billboards in SL along time." Blue Burke There is no justification for this type of behavior.Catherine Cotton

How much does it cost?
02-10-2005 17:50
From: CalvinRichard Klein I dont mind eating those cost. Join the real world. Well lets see, if your stream is worth its salt the server is about 80.00 usd a month. A staff of "quality" djs at what 250L$ to 300L$ an hour. BTW I run mine free aswell. I do however pass the production costs along as I use a professional to produce them. If you have a stream that run only on your land a club how many "Unique Listeners" could you have and is there any value that you could charge if you wanted to. I know of one stream the broadcast on over 400k m2 in SL and has a unique listener base of over 400 a day. and its still free. This stream owner must be nuts.

Oh please that is the weakest excuse I have heard yet for singleing me out in the forums.
Thats right I think sitting and watching a billboard is as exciting as watching paint dry.
Apparently you find entertainment in that. What ever floats your boat. I find it shocking that you did however go so overboard over a tiny little statement like that. God help anyone who makes a statement that realy pisses you off.

Catherine Cotton Naming Names -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please think twice before starting threads or polls that are about or targeted to a specific person. Even if intended as a joke, they can be hurtful or viewed as personal attacks by the person named. Unfortunately, more often than not these threads end up in flames. From: Danny DeGroot I think MetaAdverse is a neat service, and just needs a little more critical mass in the form of placements on the Grid. Danny, may I have your permission to use this quote in an article on the MetaAdverse? May I also have your permission to use your SL name?
