Six hours! Count 'em! Six!!!
02-14-2005 17:58
We're now taking a break underwater in Alviso before pressing on to our next waypoint -- the southernmost sim in SL: Hoodoo.

Eyes are bleary. Fingers hurt. Need more snacks to hold out. :)

7 hours
02-14-2005 18:55
It's just short of 7 hours into the walk, and we can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. More mishaps with ejection scripts along the way, which makes it virtually impossible to navigate through a sim without getting booted way off course. Also, I got killed by a train. Well, nearly killed anyway. :)

We're in Hoodoo, now. Only a couple more hours, I'd guess.

Just finished walking the Alviso to Hoodoo section. Thoroughly enjoyable. You are all nuts!

Cubey, please add me to your walkabout group. I would like to know when the next one is happening!

This is so fun. I've joined the Walkabout group several times throughout the day and I'm gonna check in with them again to cheer 'em on. :)

Heheheh I had this idea a LONG TIME AGO...well, OK, in September, anyway.
Here is my blog:

http://second_life_walk.typepad.com/

But...like you, I got stuck on the security scripts. They bounced me in um...what was it again? I forget the name of the place. Was it out in Samoa? I dunno...my head hurts...they kept bouncing me...I kept landing back at my lot in Refugio which I appropriately called Square One for awhile...

anyway...I had to give up finally due to them things.

I will join you if I see you on line, I need the exercise.

Extra points for finding Linden tree rezzer thingies.

Hey, no cheating. I saw you skip-fly over that bridge!!!

Last rest stop, 7 hrs 45 minutes
02-14-2005 19:46
Well here we are at the last stop before we rush onward to the finish line at Abbotts Aerodrome! We met up with a bizarre number of banishers and ban lines in the snow sims. It was so bad, it was like walking through a minefield -- you never knew when one of us would get blasted into the corner of the sim and get stuck. Again.

So... five minute break, then onward!

Wow, that's a long walk Cubey, didn't seem to take as long as the walk across the world part Deux with Hamlet. Good luck, wish I could have joined you for it.

People are gonna be posting group shots all the time here... so here's a spot that I prolly wouldn't have ever seen if I hadn't gone on this adventure :)

I've dumped all of the into a gallery, for those who would like to seem some poorly taken, random snapshots that document this amazing journey.

The gallery is here: http://www.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=20262035/t_=21152171

You'll have to login to the service to use it. I've made an account with username: Ardith.Mifflin@gmail.com and PW: spork

The name of the person who built that escapes me right now, but you did a fantastic job, on the octagons and on the statue display "Touched by SL".

Planet Mars for the octagons, and it's a Starax artwork.

THANKS PLANET AND STARAX!!! YOU MADE OUR FUN ADVENTURE EVEN MORE ENJOYABLE!!! :D

If anyone who wants to visit this location where we had our group photo, head to:

Deimos (16,22)

Thanks everyone for sharing pics and memories.

I wonder if someday, just someday, virtual walkathons and similar events will be able to raise money to help charitable causes. :)

Planet Mars built that. I made a note while we were there. Excellent stuff.
[edit] D'oh... Torley beat me to the punch! Haha!

Okay, here we are heading west out of Abbott's through the sandbox.

A rare look at my human av during a rest stop. Lots of trees on that parcel.

Taking a break underwater (we spent a lot of time underwater). Jamie Otis drops by to inform us that we are crazy.

A closeup of one of the shirts I made for the previous cross-country trek. I'll be making another set of shirts for this circumnavigation.

Heading through the treacherous snow sims. You can see Ardith Mifflin's ginormous mecha-dino av in the distance.

And here's my versions of the popular group shots. :D
Thanks, Planet Mars, we really liked your build! And I would never have seen it if it wasn't for that nutjob Cubey Terra!

Haha, after having all the trouble with my tail and muzzle disappearing yesterday, I figured I'd try it as a human. :D It didn't last, though...

And here's a pic of the new commemorative t-shirt for this insane trek:
Thanks to the abovementioned Ariel Roentgen for the v-neck template. :D

[edit] BTW, I think I got everybody that was along for the walk after I thought to start writing them down... If I missed you with the shirts, let me know!

Sneakiest way to bring customers to one's store I have ever heard of.

Outstanding sales gimmick, Cubey. First you get them to walk around the world till their guards are down, then, when they finally reach the Aerodrome, exhausted, too tired to think - bam! Sell 'em each a fleet of planes!

I wished I'd made it. I tried to catch up to the first one, well in progress, but a sim crash and logging in problems took so long to deal with I forgot what I was doing when the failure occured.

It's odd, I could have IM'ed you and asked for teleport, but that seemed like cheating.

LOL... hahaha... well, at the end of this long journey, Cubey gave us all free sporks. :) And along the way, I did spot a number of people with Cubey vehicles in their land -- assorted terraces, garages, and what-have-you-not. That just blew my mind because I think it must make Cubey to see his vehicles out there like that, knowing someone is deriving aerial pleasure from his hard work.

I crashed and relogged about ten times. I TPed several times and popped in and out during the day -- my own intention wasn't to walk the entire way but to oversee the fun spirit that was in motion... as some people had to go and others joined in, but Cubey lead the pack and just kept going and going and going.

:D
