Generally if I see someone with triple neg rates I think "Well the person who neg rated them was so angry that he rated all three even though they're irrelevant, well they must not have been thinking straight and they'll probably regret those negs later" If I see one neg in behaviour then I know that the person who neg rated them was thinking properly and knew exactly what they didn't like about the situation.
Therefor i'm much more wary about someone with negs like Behaviour: -12 Appearance: -1 Building: -1 then someone like Behaviour: -15 Appearance: -15 Building: -15 Besides, it's probably that high rates means they were group negged. But ultimately lately i'd come to the conclusion that neg ratings are meaningless in general, and that the real loser in a neg rating is the person who spends close to 100L$ trying to kick up a person's neg rates by 1 point that'll disappear in 6 months anyways. _____________________

I think the triple neg is a special act that should not be used in excess, and not just some random griefing, and not just to disagree with some random forum poster. I think it should be saved for that repeat, egregious, unrepentent forum harasser who constantly makes person attacks and engages in malicious slander. I just wanted to get my shot at a trip-neg from Prok-baby for repetitive, egregious, unrepentant mockery. But I think that my darling Proky has really got me beat in the "mockery of Prok" department with this one. Haven't you sweety? Does this mean you have to trip-neg yourself? |

I think that this is all the rules that where suggested in this thread. Does anyone have a valid reason why any of these suggestions would not work well, or maybe more that could be added to the list? I know that these are not set in stone, but maybe we could have more useful discussion of what would make these forums better? The reason no one is taking this thread seriously (myself included) is because the person who posted it is the posterchild of never, ever following those rules. Indeed, more often than not, this individual is the instigator who does precisely the opposite at every opportunity. This individual enjoys harrassing those with whom they disagree, They enjoy insuring any attempt at discussion made can be immediately derailed, and they enjoy the attention and infamy they receive as a direct result of their constant acting out and disruption of these forums. The term used to describe behavior that seeks as its only goal the spotlight is 'attention whoring' and this individual is, without doubt, a skilled attention whore, to the detriment of any forum or thread in which they make an appearance. It is not that they are bad ideas, it is that, after watching this individual flout and ignore them for almost two months straight, I am absolutely certain this individual posted this thread only to further rub the community's nose in the fact that they continue to break them at every turn with what appears to be absolute impunity. There is no 'useful discussion' to be had when this individual is involved, as any discussion which does not focus around them or their ideas is castigated and dragged off-topic repeatedly until it is either locked or moved out of the eye of the community -- tactics that I am frankly surprised Linden Labs has not gained better awareness of by this point in time. Do yourself a favor and take some time to search out posts made by this individual over the last six months. Outside of advertisments for their in-world goods, there is not one post lacking some form of venom, hostility, instigation, or deliberately inflammatory effort. Not one. That really is telling. If this individual had ANY interest in a legitimate improvement of Linden Lab's product or the social constructs at work within it, they would not act in such consistantly negative and disruptive fashion. The facade of 'concern' is one behind which this individual has hidden regularly and used with success in garnering attention for themselves at the expense of the community at large. This individual has absolutely no credibility as a serious participant in the community discourse because this individual has repeatedly demonstrated a complete lack of interest in or commitment to the things that make a community strong -- cooperative discourse, compromise, and a willingness to work with others rather than against them. This thread is a classic example of the manner in which this individual solicits attention and, unfortunately, it remains a successful means for them to do so. But kindly do not delude yourself with regard to the motivations or intentions of this individual. As you can see even in the their responses here, their only interest is in inflamming and annoying others. It is a shame that genuinely good ideas can be tools of divisiveness and aggitation merely because the largest hypocrite and attention whore in the community is saying them, but then again, no one likes to see the ideals toward which any community strives (failing as they often do) used as a shield behind which further dissent may be sown. _____________________
