For me, its become another extention of Uru through Telador. It's a really nice build that's constantly changing, and I've had the chance to meet with the group that work on it most. A very dedicated and kind group, they've done such an amazing job that it makes me relax just wandering about in it.

I've kinda become an unofficial Uru 'ambassador' of sorts, answering questions people had about Live and getting to meet other people who were interested in playing. I've considered running discussions about the subject (for an external private project I'm looking into), and am awaiting for something else to pan out before I begin. I suppose that I've become recognizable in my own way - though I'm tempted to figure out how to painlessly transfer the Watcher's Shirt into SL so I can wear it. ;)

I've also become fond of the Boardman sim. I personally like the idea of a quiet sim; The fact that this one is, in theory, enforcable is just a bonus. If I had more time and L$ to spare I'd do something similar to what's been done with Lusk, or what I'm starting to see with Kissling. However I don't, and though I'm in preparations to move elsewhere I'll still do what I can there from time to time.

It's one big project for me. I enjoy interacting with people although I do wish I had more friends. I also love making custom skins for people and improving my skills as a clothier and skinmaker.

It's not just that; I designed websites before, and I always have these little projects that I obsess over for weeks; the great thing about SL is that there isn't ... really .. an end to the project. You just do what you want.

SL is a creative outlet for me, and also an inspiration.

Second Life is my "home" on the net. I might go play at other people's houses, but I always come back at night.. or well, at the end of every game jag I come off of.

It's where I'm comfortable, where my family is huge and I will never know them all.

This is where I find my inspiration and frustration, and where I feel free to make and be what I could not and might not in my First Life.

Second Life is life-changing to me. I'll never regret joining the "team" that comprises us all.

Well, I am still astounded, after 6-7 weeks here, at how much SL is AND isn't.

And I think that's really the point. That's why we all keep coming back even though some gripe a lot.

If there were no limitations, it would be stone boring.
Too many limitations, and frustration sets in.

SL has done a pretty good job of surfing that edge. (considering the difficulty, a damn good job)

I don't want SL to become ANYTHING in particular. I want EVERYTHING to co-exist here.

I know it's probably disappointing for the old-timers that wanted it to stay their little playground, but there's no need to abandon your community just because there are more ppl in the interstices. There's nothing stopping you from interacting and building with the ppl you have always known.
But you have to make room for us, to share this world in the way we want to. There's enough space for that here... and there should continue to be.

If the lag problems get too bad, then I guess SL will fail. That I see as the main obstacle in LL's path, even if they don't really seem to understand that sometimes.

I hope not though, because for me this has been a way to meet some of the most creative people around anywhere, one on one, without ego barriers getting in the way. It's astounding. I am constantly delighted.
I have Asperger's Syndrome, and IRL, meeting people is really hard because body language, voice tones and subtle social cues don't work the same instinctive way for me that they do for others, so there is often weird awkwardness and inability to get our respective points across. Discovering the internet liberated me sooooo much, but I was still very limited in what I could do socially.
Here, I am free at last, able to really connect on the same level with so many different types of ppl and share my enthusiasm and ideas. It's not perfect, but what is?

...also, I just love flying around and looking at everything. Awesome.

Clubs are just chat rooms with cute dancing 3-d images of ppl in them. I like them, when I do, cause it's a gathering point to meet up with everyone. A lot of them are lame, but when they aren't, they're pretty neat.

SL I think is essentially more of a MUCK/MOO/MUSH than an MMORPG and that throws a lot of newbs off I think. Having no expectations (or experience) when I got in helped me adjust pretty quickly I think.

I love the idea that one day I could build my own weird city and other ppl could come and see it and we could meet there, looking out over the virtual skyline from my airship.
I mean - *blink blink* - that's amazing.

What does SL do for me....

Well for one.....It allows me to be someone else! I like who I am in RL.....but I also like the fact that I can be someone else in SL.
I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids...whom I homeschool. So Sl is my way of connecting with other people. Other adults through out the day.

The things I do in SL I would never do in RL. So it trully is a second life for me.
I was married at 18, never got a chance to play the field....SL is my chance to do that. HEHE and not have to worry about any damned diseases! ROFL

I have played TSO and THERE.com as well and looked at them the same.....just a way to escape RL for just a little bit......OK maybe escape it alot! I do have an addiction problem to this game.
Speaking of which.....when is this thing going to come back up so I can play!

Caitlin :)

For me it's a bit of a creative outlet, like Lego on acid. Also seeing what other people have come up with is pretty inspiring.

To be brief, SecondLife so graciously lightens the heavy load on my wallet every month.

And is a far better system than any MUCK, MUSH, MOO, MUD, or IRC chat channel. WoOt.

You said it!

I've only played SL for, what, three days now. I'm absolutely amazed at how open it is here. It allows me to just open up, to create and do what I want. I could wanter around SL for hours meeting really nice people. Or spend a few hours toying on my little slice of internet heaven. Its my alter ego or the voice in my head. I've likened SL to lucid dreaming. I am my own king, and yet I am only a whisper in the winds of broadband......

SecondLife to me, is truly a second life. I dont really have a family and its so nice in the evening to hang with the people (not avies but people) you have grown to love! Holidays are especially hard when you are all alone, SL fills that void. Ive also refined my computer skills along the way....building is SO MUCH FUN in SL.

Thanks everyone! :-)

SL is becoming just like real life cities above a certian size, where the trend is that everyone starts to blend in with each other, assuming silent anonymimity in those rare times when they have to cross paths with strangers on their way to their own little dive in some corner of the grid.

We've lost the "Cheers" feeling in our community.

I agree SL feels different than it did a year ago.

Maybe we could view SL as a collection of small towns. There are SL sims and enclaves where people still all know each other.
