What does SecondLife do for you?

Yes... the 'cheers' have most certainly gone, i used to love these forums, now i don't even feel like i'm ALLOWED to have fun anymore, maybe LL could make a Discussion Forums > Completely Meaningless Trolling section for us.... Or just some plain old fashioned FUN!

They don't do fun. They do boring and serious. What they don't realise is how f*cking hilarious most of their 'serious' stuff is. Ignore them. After all, most of them are ignoring us!

No more PATCHES!

I lost my profile AGAIN.. and I am NOT a happy bunny.... this happened after the last patch and i had to re-fucking do it.. and low and behold it has happened again...

It's punishment isn't it.. they want me to lose my identity.. well one of them...

well, I still feel the cheers feeling. I'm not sure why. I guess I just have a group of people I don't have to worry about too much drahma with . You would be one Kex even though I don't know you that well. Means I'll come fly by if I see you're on and see what your up to when I pull my nose out of prims and script for a few minutes. I won't always talk or stay long, but it's like taking a walk and waving to your neighbor. I meet a new worthwhile person every few weeks or a month and that's enough.

I play sl to create. I've always been like that with any and all passtimes. I played with legos and constructs and erector sets, lincoln logs, basically anything that could be used to build something. I even used a hammer and nails and pieces of wood! what I get for growing up in the sticks . when nothing else was handy I'd draw on a napkin or any paper that was around. when I got older and had my own sources of income I got into computers, and that was an epiphany! computers are like all the best kinds of building materials with infinite pieces! until sl that was as good as it got, but sl improved it again. I can now not only build things but show them to other people in an environment where they can use what I make. I can do that irl too but it's so much simpler in sl. less of the good vibes are lost in the process. I can even make some spending money in the process. SL isn't perfect, there are more limits than I'd like, but there always are because I want absolutely no limits . I'll play sl as long is it's the best environment for me to create like I like to create. for the forseable future it will continue to be. In pc time the forseable future isn't all that long though so stay on your toes LL . If most of sl's players left tomorrow I'd still play it though I'd sell my land. The social consideration, even the "cheers" feeling is second place to simply thinking of something and being able to make it.

Let me lend you my woodchipper and 36000 some odd empty acres. Then we'll see who needs to die.

Without a doubt, I have come to respect Rickard as a person and his creations *tremendously* in the last little while. After some bizarre timing that led me always trying to catch him when he was (AWAY), I finally got to talk to him inworld with some of our mutual friends and check out his and his Partner Ariel's place in Sami on my own time.

Needless to say, I'm not sure how to define "worthwhile" but I have a feeling I'll be getting to know Rickard more in the future.

I haven't been playing very long, but SL suits me in so many ways.

I played another game for approximately six years. As hooked as I was on it, there was always a sense of urgency... a need to achieve this or conquer that... a need to spend endless hours collecting certain items in order to get your hands on even more valuable items... in some ways it was similar to a real-world "rat race".

In SL the mood is entirely different. There are endless things a player may learn and accomplish at their own pace. The structure of the SL world encourages individual creativity without anxiety. I can relax in SL... I can "putter", explore, contemplate, enjoy - and if I must be away from it for a few days I don't feel like I've lost ground when I return - I can just pick up where I left off and happily go on.

Another thing I appreciate is the maturity level of most players I've met. In fact, the 18 or older rule had a great deal to do with my decision to try SL in the first place.

SL is a wonderful place to escape to when you need a break from the real world, and I hope it will be around for a long time.

What does SecondLife do for you?

Well, it has worsened my grammar and spelling, eroded my sleep patterns, stalked my dreams, frustrated, delighted, amused and confused me. It has confirmed my real world cynicism and validated my belief in the importance of friends that I can trust. It has made me very angry at times, and made me laugh coffeine from my nose. It broke my first keyboard, and killed an already ailing wireless mouse. It convinced me to buy a new PC, and I suspect it will again. It allows me to create, and I don't do that nearly enough.

It excites me beyond words, just contemplating where SecondLife will take us all. The possibilities are terrifying in their reach and scale.

Well atm it raises a mob, gives me a good fucking kicking and the Lindens say 'yeah, guys, you can continue that, but can you do it over there, not here? kthxbye'.

Honey, I dont think a few foul mouthed hypocrites are representative of all of SL. And there's loads more people that have said they love ya than there are ones who told you to go away and die. Keep doing what you do, and if people whine about it, well, they have plenty of tools at their disposal to cut you out of their SL existance, as per my first post in this thread

And don't take it personally that the Lindens are happy for people to launch personal attacks at you. Lindens are human too (apparently). And come with all the same prejudices, hypocrisies and inconsistent behaviour as regular forum posters

SL is a comfort from RL you can make friends and be your alter ego. I personally come here to get away from te dramas of life. I dont remain friendly with people who live for creating more drama inworld. We all come here to have fun. That is what I aim to do and stay away from worrisome people.

I met my soulmate Samhain Broom here, and we are happy creating our world together. And will plan to wed in the near futre. We will experience all we have available to us. And ave dedicated ourselves to helping others and making friends. I have recently joined the mentoring group to help new members.
