Yesterday I decided to

$ cat >> etc/hosts
forums.secondlife.com 127.0.0.1

as the signal to noise ratio here became too low.

Now after seeing that one or two people have turned this into a humorless void, I'll be doing the same again.

For Windows users, the relevant file is <whereever your windows directory is>/system32/drivers/etc/hosts, on the Mac it is probably in the divinely ordained proper spot of /etc/hosts and adding that line tells your machine to try to connect to itself when you ask your browser to connect to forums.secondlife.com.

'Tis a pity that so few can destroy an otherwise enjoyable on-line community and that they were allowed to do it for so long.

So what you're basically saying is that your urge to read the forums is so great, regardless of your oppinions on a few posters, that you have to put a block on your own machine to prevent yourself from reading them?

Willow and panda, now that I have actually turned images on in my settings, the forums are infinitely more digestable. Thank you!
