Why don't Lindens want you to have TV tech?

1. The same power players who have always gotten LL to bend are still around demanding LL do what they say.

2. Said power players have alot to gain by not letting you the public have information that I own and have tried to give away on these forums.

I will be around my comp off and on all day. Anyone who wishes to not be locked out of the TV industry by power freak SL players can contact me and I'll be sure to supply you with all the information you need to start your own TV business in SL.

I beleive this script still remains in the script library. Perhaps they are removing your posts because they're in the wrong section.

LL has told me this.

They have not told me why.

The people applying pressure to LL have told me why.

They don't want you to have it.

No it's not in the scripting library. They have removed public information from there as well.

Just because i own the book "Men are far from Mars Women are from Venus", does not give me the right to duplicate and distribute it.

Just because i own a music CD does not give me the right to copy it and distribute it.

Just because you own, as in possess Alondria LeFay's TV Code, does not give you the right to distribute the code.

Up until Monday, you had a business relationship with Alondria. When Alondria told you she was taking her business elsewhere, you chose to destroy the current viable business model by posting the code that was used to build Video Emporium.

Very cruel. But par for the course. And as usual, appealing to the public as though no wrong has been committed by you except an unjust oppression directed against you by the powers that be which are under the influence of players such as myself, right?

Briana since this situation is of great importance to you I'll reply to you, but I don't see the point. Your only goal here is to hush up more technology for your own uses. You and Fizik think because you don't want something to be that it won't, well I'm sorry, thats just not the case today. I bought and paid for not just a script, but the rights to it. I can and have used it in anyway I like for well over a year. I have changed the script in numerous ways and I am the only one who ever made it useful. Yes after returning to SL after a month of being gone for 1st life issues I come back to find the technology and ideas I had shared with Alondria was now being shared with you and Fizik and god knows who else. Why is it okay for you to steal from me? Why is it ok for you to do this? This is nothing but old school payback by a royal control freak and frankly I'm sick of you and I hope eventually SL in general gets sick of you. I know from messages over the last few months that many are indeed sick of YOU. Now get off my ass and let do MY thing. You may have Philip's ear, and maybe SLUniverse will bend to you as well, but you know I won't.

Folks this Briana person has controlled alot of things here in our SL and this is just one more thing. You all have a right to know how to make animated textures. You all have a right to know how to display them easily. You have a right to this info that should have been public a long time ago.

I am *certain* that it was the exact same thread, containing the exact same script, that I keep seeing posted over and over. Yes.

It won't be posted further at this time but I am going to host it and all the instructions on a url this morning. LL can't and should not bend to Briana Dawson again just because the poor thing wants her way over and over and over and over.... It gets old LL. You guys are also becoming painfully obvious.

I've run a search for 'television', 'broadcast', and 'screen' and seen nothing. I've done a quick browse through three pages. Nothing. I'm not seeing it. But then again I didn't read the code Angel was posting in any detail, so I don't know what else to look for.

Angel, stop trying to make this a populist movement. You're copying someone else's script, that OBVIOUSLY doesn't want it to be copied, over and over in an attempt to undermine whatever it is you want to screw up.

I'm amazed at the timidity of some of the people involved. That's probably why they continue business relationships with you. It's a good thing you're not copying anything of mine, or you'd never hear the end of it. Ever.

Was it the TV code that was released as open source a long while ago that someone ran events to show it off, and someone planned on using to make a global billboard system? Or was it something Angel had recently posted?

Angel, your credibility is far more damaged than Briana's, Damien's, and Fizik's. I'd be more inclined to believe them over you if they told me that San Francisco dropped into the ocean last night.

It was recently posted (about 8 hours ago) by Angel, containing a TV script.

I dont know about the other script you're referring to.

Just to point out I'm not actually accusing anyone of stealing scripts and not pointing out who the script belongs to either Just tired of seeing it posted everywhere ^_^

Edited to add: Briana had nothing to do with me posting my opinion. I haven't even spoken to her about this, and I'm hardly her follower. But I'm not here to argue with you, so I'll be taking off for work now. ^_^

I'd just like to take this opportunity to REALLY drive home a point like a broken record here. Recently LL attempted to convince the creative community that forced open source was the way to go for SL's future. Yes, they would have protected scripts, but they wouldn't have protected prim structure, and since prim structure is the key component in vehicles and avatars, it would have been the equivilent to allowing anyone to copy said objects.

These are the people LL wanted to hand control over to. Cory made it quite clear that he still believed that open source was the way to go, but was willing to compromise with creators into an optional system. But we had to fight for it, tooth and nail, for five days. Remember to fight for your rights, kiddies!

True, but if I created a thread which was deleted by LL after no replies, I would realise that it's probably not allowed to be posted. Posting it again wouldn't help.

Just a side note: there is an open TV Script example from the USL Scripting 103 classes in the University Library (5th floor BonnyDoon MegaTower). It shows how to send/receive email, read notecards, and display textures via key. It's not a complete system that's ready for use, but more of an educational example. If there is enough demand, I can run the class on it again to teach these concepts, and revamp the scripts.
