I don't see a problem with it. it doesn't say who's giving or receiving the items, just the item name. I think it's a great marketing strategy too. anyone run a website or blog with moveable type? whenever you post an entry by default it sends a ping to weblogs which lists the most recently updated sites. same theory. stop complaining about every goddamn thing that happens for christ's sake.
