If you're new Eugene, this is pretty much how things go in the forum. You'll pose a question or have an idea and a group of people will beat you to death with negativity.

oh come OFF it, ulrika. That's just silly in this context. You post a coherent thought and back it up, sure some people will disagree and some will agree (or laugh). Lots of different opinions on here... no need for anyone to be a forum martyr.

Now I don't know why Hank (hey bear!) got so triggered, but it might be ye ole straw that broke the camel's back. letsee... this thread started out with

Here Some Of My Complaints:
etc
From: Eugene Pomeray
Charging Real $ for land etc. I came to second life to escape from my financial troubles, and to escape from the real world, but now they are changing it all.

I have never understood why people think SL is "la-la-land" where all their problems are whisked away. Ok. Ok. It IS "la-la-land" and most of your problems CAN be whisked away! fun! But it is still a business. Why should your financial troubles mean financial trouble for Linden Lab? Why should those very hard working entrepreneurs and engineers subsidize you? That's not right and that's not fair.

From: Eugene Pomeray
At least i am progressive, unlike you. You can enjoy Second Life as you want, and i will enjoy second life as i want, the only difference is, you are complaning, while i am trying to fight for my ideas.

hmmm... i didn't think Hanks posts were terribly non-progressive. Maybe they weren't socialist, but certainly not non-progressive. He just wanted you to explain / back up your "ideas".

From: Eugene Pomeray
My idea is to have a more cultured and more community which has more potential.

I never did see an explanation about why anything would lead to more culture or more community. Oh well.

Now on the other hand ... Zuzi's post! Kind. Open minded. Well said. Concise (unlike me). Yummy!

Hank, I started this thread only to make people start to think. Sadly, you have made it into a verbal argument, which is both immature and rude.

Thought? Ok. Here's what I think:

The changes have been needed for quite some time. They are great, and I wish they had happened sooner. They are relatively minor changes that will result in the betterment of all of Second Life.

There. How's that?

Eugene,

Have you forgotten about the Golden Rule? Has your mother not taught it to you? I'm saddened... but for those of you who have never heard it:

Golden Rule: ";(s)He who has the Gold, Makes the Rules"

May it ever be so.

The sight of people dragging their real world ideological baggage into a computer game on the internet and fighting about it is a never ending source of quality entertainment and it's absolutely free!

"AAARGH! We need laissez-faire capitalism! HURRR! TANSTAAFL! John Galt aarraghh aaraaarhgghh!"

"Stupid capitalist son of pigdog! SL need land redistribution and worker ownership of means of production! Avatars of world unite aaarggh hurrr aaarrgghh!"

"Oh yeah, well get off welfare ya bum! words words words words words words words"

"Oh yeah, well that welfare pays your way too, capitalist exploiter! words words words words words words words"

first off Linden Labs is NOT a government, they ARE a company

As a company with a service (entertainment) they need to charge money to support their service.

Second, where is there a monopoly?

Clothing designers? certainly not tons of them around

Animators? again, lots to select from

Scripters? Oh jeebus there is only one scripting empire!! Oh wait nope, my bad... lots of these too

Prim slingers? Hmmm DAMN THAT YADNI AND HIS PRIM LINKING EMPIRE... oh wait... anyone can make prims...

I guess this is about the people with talent have all the money maybe? Like *GASP* those who write good code can profit off it, or people who can use a graphics editor are rewarded for their time...

Cry me a river mister, go practice some skills, slap together some prims, try your hand at marketing, bust your ass working, take customer service calls.... Or did you just expect handouts forever?

if you expect handouts then, go have a government cake walk or something somewhere

Mmm. With some roasted garlic. And maybe some sun-dried tomatoes. And olive oil drizzled with pepper.

Yes, I meant protoge. I'm very sick right now, and I'm a little more not quite right in the head than usual.

(I was going to just say that I wasn't quite right in the head right now, but someone would say "What else is new" and then I would say "well more so than usual" so I figured I would save us a lot of time.)

It's that fork at fault, Lance. It killed the gerbil, who has started rotting, and the infection has traveled to your brain which now has rottinggerbilitis.
