I've looked to see if there are any open topics about Magellan's travels and I can't see any, so here's one to discuss the posts made to the blog.

Today:
http://secondlife.blogs.com/magellan/

They've landed! Hopefully we can start getting some screenshots of it now?

You know... ETA, 50 minutes...

wouldn't it be totally wild if it really WAS 50 minutes to get there? No teleportation ability, just get in a vehicle and go across a vast expansive ocean, to land on this wild frontier, whatever it is.

Ah well, a guy can dream, can't he? :)

The range on a T-hub only goes SO far. If they were Stargates it would be a cinch, but executing a wormhole-tunnel to get across half the planet is kind of overkill.

Maybe if I rigged some extra watch batteries into a t-hub and then gave it precise targeting coords, I could hop across to the new continent.

Keep in mind that I nothing, <i>NOTHING</i> to do with the entire t-hub network going offline the other day. Those watch batteries and burnt flesh around the maintenence panel aren't mine. *hides bandaged hands*

- new patch 1.5.15 is in preperation of 1.6!!
- New land discovered

Could these two pieces of newsbe linked with each other and how soon do you think the deployment of 1.6 will be?

Maybe.

And who knows. We've heard nothing from LL about any release dates and theres been lots of other coding done in past versions in "preperation for 1.6" and future versions. So you can't really go by that.

Very... colorful
02-14-2005 14:56
so, from the latest report, i'm gathering:

1- bio-mechanical dinosaurs???

2- there are, at the very least, ruins of some sort.. maybe more current, possibly inhabited?

3- i'm assuming there's a large body water
- possibly a large lake or gulf of some sort
- also possibly more than one main body of land, seperated by a small ocean/sea

4- the terrain sounds like it will be dramatically different.
- beaches are not sandy
- the land (texture) is VERY colorful..

5- is this in response to our suggestions of alien landscapes?

6- Magellan likes to drink.. alot. :)

7- is Dino-Crisis coming to SL? j/k.. lol

Looks like it could be a sub of some sort of well. Was constructed by Xenon obviously, and probably programmed by Ben.

Landing gear isn't needed if you're never ment to land. Or if you're meant to land into the water.

Looks to have a weapon of some sort on the front.

-No sand, i.e no beaches.
-A sub (now the "where is the landing gear?" comment makes sense).

Some type of WATERWORLD?

Will Kevin Costner be involved? :p

Arthur Conan Doyle. Lost World. Updated for 2005.

Or an update of Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth. Thermal suits for hot places and a sub for magma or lava pools, oceans, tubes.

Just a guess. Either way, volcanoes, jungles, weirdness.

Edited to add a thought.

i wonder if it's significant that they keep misspelling "brakes" as "breaks". that's twice now.

Interisting note on Break - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_%28music%29

From: someone
A break is an instrumental or percussion section or interlude during a song derived from or related to stop-time being a "break" from the main parts of the song.

Probably not at all what they mean, propably just a mispelling or breaks because they break instead of brake?... I dunno.

Oh, the new post btw: http://secondlife.blogs.com/magellan/2005/02/928_pm.html

My theory is that there aren't any natives, all dead, or some sort. Sad that they only have drinks, they'll be so drunk that they won't be able to tell a native from a rake.
