if you don't have land (And I don't) and you want a nice, decent, sizeable plot there is NOTHING LEFT! Nothing except tiny one square corridors between people's land.

Um, look again.

Land scarcity is not an issue. Players unwilling or unable to look for land is the issue.
I wonder if Prelude has been updated to properly teach people about the various map features.

lusk used to be vastly open west of the mountain range.. its LITERALLY solid red now as far as the eye can see in the open area (theres still some lil side strips and linden managed plots left).. im assuming cause a) jazzy bought alot to keep their very high density store afloat in 1.2, and b) since lusk is around 2/5ths linden owned its gonna get a decent prim count boost compared to an otherwise totally player owned sim.

in fact pretty much any sim with ANY linden ownership is bought totally out... and any sim anywhere near a telehub is bought out.. and while there are some sims with some open land, its generally the 100% prim ones which makes the open land more or less currently worthless (tho possibly worth buying to hold over till 1.2, but then again other people may have already thought of that too and bought them all ;P)

I am in the same position as Jsecure Hanks. I have only been in here for about a month, just secured a lifetime membership and though I would go looking for land in an M area. I spent all day Sunday looking. I did find a nice lttle bit in DaBoom that would give me a small structure. Soon as I tried to use it I found what they all meant by Prim hogging. It was 99% full. Then luck. Found one with space and usage that was reasonable. Then I found out....Jessie is classed as unsafe. So something must be wrong. I hope 1.2 fixes it.

However. I might be missing something. I know how to use the map and I spent the time looking. If you see me in world
then I would appreciate your experience to try and find somewhere.

If it's mature land you're looking for, you're out of luck. There has always been a shortage of land in the M sims, and I don't see 1.2 or the new sims making a long-term change to that. There's plenty of land in the PG sims, though the prime land has all been purchased.

Bobby, in the large world map there's a pulldown menu that changes the view. You can choose between What's New, Popular Places, and most importantly for you: Land For Sale. I couldn't tell from your post if you're aware of this feature. If not, it might save you time in searching.

I hope 1.2 fixes it.

In 1.2 you will likely see an initial reduction of owned land and prims in all areas, not just Mature areas. However, the problem you're running into is not the result of anything being broken. The problem is the limited amount of available Mature land at the moment. This will improve in the future.

Thank's Julian. I did usae the find land feature. My son opened an account as well and had the same proble. He did settle for something in a PG area. From what I saw in the M areas when I was looking there were vast areas singlarly owned. I would think this kind of thing wont be as attractive with 1.2 because of the extra cost. Plus if I do find any land, I will have my fair share of ability to build on it. I don't think it's broken. It's land aquisition is very daunting for people in my position.

Bobby, hello, good to sort of meet you. Anyway, really curious here .. How old is your son?

If he's under 18, what's his in-game name? I need to add him to the ban list at my club.

You better not ban him..!!! DOB 13 April 1982...Think that makes him 21. He is ingame at the moment at the open chat event. Have a chat with him. He is the one with a big sword on his back !! called Del Dayton....I am sat beside him.
PS I am old enough as well being 50!

Nice to meet you though :)

NP. He just commented how he likes SL as the younger element seems to have been eminated effectively. He comes from Everquest and hated the 15 year olds running havoc.

it is true that the lindens are buying all the land in sims where they already own a lot. haney stated that they were doing to avoid people buying it and ending up with land beyond their allocation thinking that they would get more prims for it.

i suppose they're still not sure how that will work and don't want us speculating beyond our allocations.

Well...take two more off the count, one for Asmo Serpentine and mine.

Does that make us the last two?

Also, I'm wondering, ar there people who bought the lifetime but just don't play anymore?

I was thinking, maybe if they just don't want to come back to SL at all, if they agreed to release their lifetimes, could those be recycled to offer more lifetimes?

Did that make sense?

Bah you'll never get my lifetime from my death grip.... I got it so I can check in for the rest of my life :).

In 2070 this game should be interesting :)

OMG...I got crazed by the Lifetime Membership Countdown..and when I saw that there were none left I went to my Account Summary and changed my membership to Lifetime....and it WORKED!

But then I got scared because I dont have the money for it. Plus, I am a noob, just signed up for regular membership, and didnt want to be the LAST Lieftime member for fear of retribution from some long standing, well-deserving member of this fine community.

Anyway, I switched back to Monthly member at least until I actually build something that I don't delete after 1/2 and hour offrowning at it.

Good to be here!

Just one question. All the life members are used up so i was wondering. I dont remember the exact numbers but in the email i got regarding 1.2 it said that existing Life members would get the following (...) and new life members would get (...) I purchased a Life membership about a week ago (1.2 not implemented yet) but since i had my monthly just paid it doesn't take effect until January. Are we getting the (Existing life members grandfathered allocations or are we getting the post 1.2 allocations? Since all Life memberships are now sold ,But not yet billed, do we all get the pre 1.2 benefits? This IS the only reason i made the purchase.

I am in the same position as you almost. I took life membership about a week ago also. Mine was actually billed yesterday. I think from what I have read, yours will be billed on the day 1.2 goes live. Probably 22nd December. If your profile now says you are a life member, then you are and will get all the associated land allotment for life membership.

Actually im concerned because of this:
Next Bill Date: Saturday, January 3, 2004

Although my profile says LifeMember as account type I still have the above. I just wouldn't want a life account with half the benefits of other life accounts. So I am hoping that this will be answered before the 1.2 implementing so that I could make the switch back to monthly. After all, i would expect that if my not getting billed yet meant no grandfathered benefits then it would also mean its not locked in as a life member yet.

Corny.
