I, of limited means and even more limited talent, would love to help, as well, Olmy.

Has anyone considered an SL take on 'Wigstock' or a Mardi Gras krewe Ball Masque? Something like that might be 'doable' in SL and a great deal of fun. As I see it, the math goes:

big colorful wigs + feathers + bling (Libarace style) = big fun :D

P.S. Please excuse my ignorance, but is there an analog of PFLAG in SL?

Hey, lots of great ideas. I'm psyched to see all this enthusiasm! Wigstock sounds like fun - more hoochie hair than you can shake a prim at!

StoneSelf and I just talked it over and we're going to provide our sim of Athena for a Pride festival at the end of June, for at least a week. We'll set aside about half the sim for people to come construct a pride-themed build, sort of like a gay Burning Life (Flaming Life?). And we'll do some kind of big party that last weekend.

We'll have a brainstorming/planning meeting later today in Athena to get things rolling. 5:30pm PT in the Agora. I'll go post an event in the listings now... Hope to see a bunch of you there tonight!

I actually won a(the) Miss Gay Pride pagent last year. And I was very proud to be chosen!. I still have my Tiara.. and as much as I love it.. I would be willing to pass it on in the name of tradition. Though I would prefer if some of last year's judges and/or participates weighed in on my choice. :)

I wonder what happens when alternative lifestyles become simply "lifestyles" as they are accepted. Will they stop having pride months? Will straight people start having pride months?

For that matter, latinos are soon to be the largest ethnic group in America. Will latino pride organizations / events be considered racist? Will white pride be then accepted?

Just thinking out loud.

Some of my close friends in the gay community are saying that it was more ”fun” when it was a bit more non-ok in society....

Now we talk about Sweden..

****

When we talk about this kind of meetings in SL... isnt it possible in some technical way to put more power in the the sims that arrange such special SL occasions - so we dont get lag.... ?????? Only for a day or some days????

Something for us all.. for improving the SL life...

Need all the help we can get :-)

I'm working on the notes right now, I'll get them out on my lunch break today.

Hiro, I think SL is a great indication of what will happen when sexual orientation becomes just another normal and accepted lifestyle. Everyone can get involved in celebrating LGBT pride, not just us queer folks. I'm sure there were people at our meeting last night who were straight and just there to be part of the fun. RL Pride festivals are like that now too - in San Francisco there are tons of straight folks who come out to play for the day. Just like there are a lot of anglos who go to the Carnivale celebrations the Latinos throw each year. Pride is not an Us vs Them thing. It's about showing support for and celebrating our diversity, cause the world would be a poorer place if everyone were exactly the same.

I vote for Barnesworth for whatever people are voting for. :) I will be glad to donate prizes and help out as well.

Pfffft. Keep it up, buster...Before you know it, Eggy will be edging you out as my favorite unrequited-hetero-latin love interest.

Since this thread has become overrun with silliness, I've posted the notes from yesterday's meeting in a new thread: /110/23/48871/1.html

Let's move the conversation about planning and putting on the event over there, and leave this thread to discussion of undies that are SUPER. And where do I get some of those?

Pfft. That's a very small "S" for something that is supposed to be 'Super'.

I consulted the Oracle and this is what will follow:

- Truckers will subscribe to the Pottery Barn catalogue and will start using Bio-Diesel.

- Subaru and Jeep will face bankruptcy as they lose thier market demographic.

- Polyester will cease to be used in garments, but the PolyMuseum will open in Akron.

- Dykes on Bikes will open the ceremonies for future Super Bowls.

- Straight males around the world will stop wondering 'Why are they looking at me?' and start wondering 'Why aren't they looking at me?'

- Lavender Lanes, America's first gay retirement community, will open in Santa Fe.

That would be January-December. Please don't sidetrack this thread into an argument about how straight people (me being one of them) should get to have pride month - that topic has been discussed ad naseum.
