If I were at a comedy club then maybe I would have a different opinion. This is not a comedy club. This is in your face real world shit. I wouldn't say anything equivocal regarding gays and I don't expect some dude to have such horrid suppositions regarding my uterus. If you don't understand that then something is wrong with you. I have enjoyed Nee's writings for a while now...this one is different. Read it again if you must.
Put it in perspective. Think about it in terms of some other stereotype if you have to. But really thank god I have enough homosexual friends who tell me this is not their stance...otherwise I might have to turn my back on the whole movement and after years of fighting alongside my comrades that would be horrid.

Siggy... the problem is that he obviously disturbed and upset someone who didn't "get it" which initially is fine but he never let her off of the hook. It reaks of superiority and arogance and is as Isis said "not kind". I for one find this thread funny but not for the reason you think. I find it funny because YOU and neehia are the ones that don't "get it". All you have done is hurt a heterosexual who has taken a stand and stood up for homosexuals in real life. You should be proud of yourselves.

Nee can you be serious for one second and tell me you are just kidding? Please, it is all I ask. I truely love reading your posts...but you seem to gloss over any issue that anyone questions you on. Please tell me this was all a joke and that I was a dupe.

but a satirist would not try to prove his point over and over attacking the listener.

He was just trying to compound the absurdity of it by staying in character. One day I read this editorial about patriotism and the pledge of allegiance issue that really pushed my buttons. I included it in a rant in a thread and it was quickly pointed out to me that what I quoted had been a satire piece. I was in a really bad mood that day and I totally missed it. On a different day and in a better mood I probably would have realized when I read it. The reaction I had was the point of the satire and I felt pretty silly becoming part of the joke. In fact I think it was Beryl that pointed it out to me, hehe. She has a finely tuned satire detector. Mine definitely goes on the blink sometimes. :)

Very nice... you are soooo smart... ok... I'll admit it... you caught me... lol... I occasionally misspell words... rofl... it does not make what I intended to say and what you KNOW I intended to say any less true... maybe you can run all over Isis but not me... your attitude reveals a lack of character and if your intent was to be funny... SUCCESS... rofl... I am laughing AT you.

Give it up Isis. He does not deserve your respect. The joke is on him sweetie. Don't let this trouble you any longer and read his future posts enlightened as to what kind of person he is.

Where were the tree huggers...did I miss them? Sorry to everyone but this is an issue I am having a hard time ripping away from...seeing as how Nee has yet to answer one question.

You have some very good points here Chip and as always, I respect your opinion and willingness to share it but I say this case is a little different from reading an article. This was a discussion where he interacted with Isis, was mean spirited, didn't recognize when he took it too far and hurt her feelings and still is so smug he will not admit he was wrong and apologize. Satire is one thing, intentionally hurting someone is quite another.

we are all the tree huggers.

i think neehai went to bed. he said "goodnight" earlier in the thread. don't worry isis, his comments weren't really meant to inflame you, but the anti-gay gang.

his satire was just to illustrate one of many similarities between current US politics and early national socialist rule in germany.

but it did inflame me...and he chose to pick sound bites out of my querries that suited his agenda. Not once did he say "chill, I am only making a point about the far right and their degredation of gays" You know he didn't have to be that up front about it even. I may be dull but I am not so dull that I cannot see when someone is being honest in their opinion. If Nee wanted to he could have dampened the flame long ago. He did not. As I said before humor is funny....this is not funny. If it was meant as a joke then he should come forward and call it a joke. Everyone making excuses for his poor attempt at satire doesn't qualify as an apology...not that I deserve one.

You can decide for yourself what is funny or not funny.

If you want me to be a monster, then that is what I am.

LOL... like you need us to label you. You do a nice job of that yourself.

How about instead of pointing the finger, being a decent human being and taking some responsibility for YOUR actions? I suppose that's too much to ask.

Nothing is too much to ask Billy. I am happy there are good people like you around.

Without you, I am nothing.

Note: I'm leaving this thread. It's gone past a simple sarcastic example of role reversal, and delved into some insane discussion about breeding camps, homos against heteros, etc.

I believe there is more than sarcasm going on here to and that's why I dont like it.

Sorry, you are oppressed so bad. Its not me doing it. Actually I have stuck up for my gay friends many times. Dont piss off your allies.

Man, am I the only one who reads between the lines and finds Neehai's posts absolutely hilarious?

Neehai - I'd suggest you start this grand project by forming the 'Anti-Sex-League' ... but that would be hitting it a lil close to home in these times :P

Siggy

Read between the lines you are reading between and there is something more.

...Beryl... has a finely tuned satire detector.

Thanks for the compliment, Chip! Actually, I just have a B.A. degree that includes a major in English and a minor in journalism, so I know a thing or two about literary devices. ;)

I saw it from the git-go, and found it amusing to go on the "ATTACK" with Nee.
fun thread --and thought provoking for those that know how to think.

Satire: witty language used to convey insults or scorn

To say it's all fun and games is incorrect.

EDIT: Since it was directed at all heteros I have to take offence.. If you want to point it to the people that are actually against gays then I might not.

I stated many time that it is not heterosexuals but their behavior that is objectionable.

I am sure there are some heterosexuals who suppress and resist these dangerous urges. I'm not talking about those people. They serve as a role model to the rest.
