This thread /120/49/45916/1.html about making money in SL via real estate was interesting, at first.

Then this person came and posted 35 freaking paragraphs in 2 posts!!!

Does anyone read any of these long winded posts? Why does this person make these long winded posts? I can't even get 1/10th of the way through them ever so I just see his name and skip on past it.

Does anyone read these posts?

I read the first and last paragraph only. I can usually guess at what the huge middle part is about that way.

I did on occasion until I realized that the message was always the same. I find no reason to suffer through it now.

I don't know why any person, so obviously interested in conveying a message, would alienate his reader this way. It is too much.

I have said perpetrator on ignore... It saves TONS of bandwidth when I'm browsing the forums.

I mostly just skim for my name in that person's posts, correct any lies, and then move on. Otherwise my eyes just glaze over at the endless stream of text.

I read every Prok post that is 10 lines or less!

I've had fun focusing my eyes on the white space between the words and reading the hidden messages.

Just can't figure who's sending those hidden messages - cause they always say things:

If it isn't approximately 5 paragraphs or less, regardless of who wrote it, I generally won't read it, unless it's an FAQ or the like.

As far as the poster you are alluding to in this thread, I have to agree with Katykiwi, it's all the same old, same old. Never have I witnessed a person use so many words to say they are angry about other's abilities and/or choices.

I wrote essentually a field report from the game with very valuable in-world experience that not too many people bother to get. It's like a manual, or a background paper. It is put up for someone to access, should they need it. It contains a lot of useful tips.

It's also creating a record, a paper trail, for scholars and analysts to access some day -- those kinds of records can be useful.

I find that there are people involved in in-world practical activities that appreciate my posts, learn from them, and support me. The five percent of the people who read the posts also tends to be about 4.9 percent made up of people who talk and do nothing in the game. When you do a lot, you sometimes also have a lot to say.

I find that most of the people who dispute me aren't really thinking about ideas or doing things in the game, they are just ridiculing, spouting, and not making sense. If I wasn't here to argue with, what would they do? They'd post a flippant remark or two or a picture or three about sexay avatar contests. They are pretty brainless and empty. God knows how they filled their time before I came along, especially those long days at home, um, folding the laundry and hitting the box wine.

Nobody is required to read my posts. They don't "say the same thing" or "go on and on about the FIC conspiracy" -- that's just the FIC itself writing about itself 10 times more than I do ROFL.

You don't even have to support the "shunning" -- the very dubious method of collective ignore and censorship -- you can just *keep scrolling*. A post doesn't have to take up one second of your time if you don't want it to.

Think a nice Rule of thumb is to to keep even elaborate posts to about 1 page.

Think of a complex post perhaps as answering in essay form on a college level exam. You wouldnt want to fill out 3 blue books on a single question.

That being said .. I literally CANT read all that text unless I see something I choose to comment on. Half the time by the time I do read the stuff , the thread has already derailed.

Which is funny becuase I am usually reguarded as a fast reader.

If this poor woman ever took the time to practice the thinking and reason she so often accuses others of avoiding, she would know how pointless her agitprop is here. Alas, as with so many avoidant personalities, she is convinced the fault lies in the world, not in herself.

But in answer to the original poster, Miss Neva is roundly, soundly, and with good reason ignored. In my opinion, she is hopelessly delusional, permanently handicapped against discovery of this reality, and therefore incapable of ever managing to live with any degree of accord in any society, including this one.

Such people are not worthy of attention. Ever. On the other hand, I will spend anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes a week answering people like yourself, who ask about her. I'm thinking of putting together a canned reply that conveys all of this succinctly. I would prefer even that 5 - 10 minutes each week not be spent discussing that sad woman.

Well I read Prok's Posts, and I read the posts against Prok, and I read the posts that are actually about things other than Prok. Prok is long winded, but in general he writes well. There are a few who I think tend to find his posts more acerbic than he really is intending them to be. I think none of us in the forums are strangers to pernicious vitriol.

The way I see it, for every paragraph Prokofy writes, 35 people are going to write one saying how he should be shunned, he is wrong, he is too acerbic, he is a narcissist, a loon, and attention whore, or some combination of these and as yet unmentioned epiphets. Thus Prok NEEDS to write 35 paragraphs so he can maintain the balance.

So I sit back, and read everything, Proks useless posts, everyone elese's useless posts and every now and them sometimes I find a gem. Its the forums. I amuses me. I am happy.

If s/he wrote well s/he wouldn't need to be that long winded. Good writers have the ability to be concise and clear in their statements.

Actually, Prokovy is a she. She told me so herself. Apparently, this is some matter of issue for her, because ever since she told me so, she's been going ape shit trying to pretend she never did. Not sure I get it, but since I like truth, I intend to keep to it.

As for the rest -- I can't really see anything she writes because she's on ignore. But I can usually figure out what she's popped her cork over by seeing what other people are saying... and I've made a fun game out of seeing how close I can get to replying to her correctly without actually having to read anything she writes.

It isn't so much 'caring' as 'boredom'. When there's nothing else to do, there's always poor, paranoid, attention whoring Prokovy, isn't there? She never changes and she's always good for a laugh. Best cure for boredom I know.

(Actually, I haven't decided yet if she really is this unbalanced or if it is just an act. If I conclude it isn't an act, I'll have to put an end to gaming her posts here because poking at the mentally ill is just wrong.)
