Since we're breaking out the snapshots ...  Here's a quicky comp I made of me and my avitar about 5-6 months ago. (appologies to those who've seen it earlier). This av is taller than her real life counterpart, and has a better tan. |

I remember taking a life drawing class and the teacher told us that people instinctively -- no matter who they are drawing -- leak a little bit of themselves into the portrait. He asked us to draw a self portrait and then draw a person we made up in our heads. When he held up one student's two pictures together, it was obvious to everyone. The noses were similar, the shape of the eyes, the ears -- it was amazing how many people did the same thing.
So while my avatar is not especially similar to my RL appearance -- she is white, for instance, and I am Asian -- it would not surprise me if someone saw a picture of the RL me and told me that I looked like my av.
