I found this when I googled SL..... http://sl.sdfjkl.org/userdata/rating_neg.spy Don't know who did this, but its quite interesting since seeing this thread. *wades through the flaming posts and dirty laundry* That's Ezhar Fairlight's work... he does a good job of making all the data he collects public.  I'm up there, too... top 20, at least. Most of mine are due to my maxim of "if pushed, push back harder", often to the point of negative ratings. My point is negative ratings, honestly, mean next to nothing. I mean, look at #1... Darko Cellardoor! He only has that many because he literally asked for a ton of them. He's not a bad guy. I'm *generally* not a bad guy. And Eric Linden? Why does HE have so many negative ratings? Yeesh. The whole system is broken. LF _____________________

Catherine, are you trying to say that you already did remove the neg ratings? If not, I know you don't want this to get into a fight on the forums again, and skirting the issue is not going to help. However if you do not want to respond to Shadow's question, you may just want to say that and then ignore further posts. And Shadow, if Catherine doesn't want to give you her answer, then I would not try further. While I do think the point you brought up Shadow was very valid, I know that you and Catherine both are working to take and keep negativity out of your SL lives. But when the two of you butt heads, it is just going to get you both flustered. I honestly never expect to see the two of you be able to have a civil conversation *together* from start to finish. Thus far the responses from each of you have been civil, you may just want to stop now before it gets heated. And I say this out of wanting to help you both in keeping as much negativity out of your SL world. I would advise you two avoid each other completly if I had any right to suggest such a thing. *hugs* Damned if I do, Damned if I don't. Yes I removed the other 2 neg ratings long ago, when I formaly posted an apology to Shadow in the SL universe forum. I did not at the time nor do I now feel that I should remove the behavior rating. Personally I see this thread being started for the author to continue to seek attention. If one of my building projects was neg rated I would take offence at the neg rater. Surely if you have something to say, say it constructively and IM the person or talk to the person who owns what you call an ugly build and offer advise.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The real enjoyment of this game is the diversity it offers. I am sure my first build was ugly as well, but players gave me encouragement to continue trying rather than neg rate me and depress me. This game has all types of people in which I guess emulates real life to extent. It must give great joy to fly round the world neg rating everything one finds distastefull. Perhaps the ratings system does need some work but damn why go round neg rating everything one finds that is not to your liking. I recall in my first 2 days I neg rated a neighbours building cause it was a factory polluting the waterways and skies. Next time I logged he in turn neg rated me. What I failed to realise is that factory owner had the right to basically build what he wanted so I remved the neg rating and he removed my neg rating. Not sure what the answer is, but with the current system in place it achieves very little by neg rating. |
