... sometime, usually completely random and with no forethought by the DJ, someone plays that insipid "Let the Bodies Hit The Floor" song.
One: Isn't that song a little old? Two: Isn't that song a little old? Three: Isn't that song a little old?
Okay, so, first of all, I realize the song is supposed to be taken in an ironic sense; no one's really going to go out and kill to that music.
erm, well, excluding the tank crew featured in Fahrenheit 9/11 who said they loved to play that over their internal loudspeaker system while in combat.
That's sort of the other point - not everyone takes it ironically... people are like, "Oh, that's such a badass rage filled song"... *sighs*
What pisses me off the most is that it seems to appear at almost every SL party, and it's just plain discontinuous with the rest of the music. I'm not just talking places where they play heavy metal all the time, neither. It could be 60s night at a Care Bears themed club, and in between "Seasons in the Sun" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" bam, there it is... Let The Bodies Hit The Floor... yadda yadda.
Can we lay this song to rest, already? I mean, can't it go the way of the dodo, like other overplayed overhyped radio trash hits?
I thought SLrs were over 18, right? Aren't people supposed to grow up and learn to not be slaves to the payola-driven radio crap? Would it be such a sacrilege to go one, just one night without putting "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" on the playlist?
Is that so wrong?
And anyway, WHY must the bodies hit the floor? Can't they hit the dirt? Or the grass? Or the road? Or the table? Why can't the bodies hit the wall first, and then the floor? So uncreative, I tell you! I'm not unreasonable, here; I'm not expecting the bodies to hit the ceiling or the roof ... just, yannow, the bodies hitting the floor is a little old, yannow?
Or like, perhaps a fourth chord could be added to the song? Is it so necessary to restrict the song to three chords that are in natural progression? I mean, for that matter, the singer doesn't even pronounce "bodies" correctly; he says something like, "bwahdeez". And the "R" in floor? Totally omitted. So what's an extra musical chord? The trend-zombie idiots who like the music only because of sheer surface value won't notice, for sure, and it'll sure make the song just a hair more pallatable for those of us who must endure through it every single frigging party in SL.
And while we're on a roll, how about some more lyrics? There's literally all of 7 words in each of the first two verses, and they don't even rhyme well (though that may be an ironic intent, I'm sure few of the fanbase realizes this either). And how hard is it to come up with "Here we go here we go now"? Gee, what brilliant writing there to compliment the poignant and complex score.
If you happen to disagree with me, here's what I recommend you do: put the mp3 of "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" on a portable mp3 player, put the song on repeat, slap on your headphones, and play it nonstop. After an hour or two, a normal human being will be sick of it and never want to hear it again. Should it take you longer, perhaps you should consult a psychiatrist for some anger therapy.

"Bodies" is not the one that drives me up a freakin wall. I am tired of that stupid "Hey mama" song and "Pussy control" They are stupid demeaning to women and I am so tired of hearing them I want to scream. This is why in 90% of clubs in SL I hit the stop button and turn on winamp. At least then I know I get to hear something decent

Hmm the more I read the more I think 'Sig Live Radio' sounds like a good idea -- when I say it's Ska night -- it's f*cking ska night!!! ALL NIGHT!!
When I say it's Rockabilly night, it's f*cking rockabilly night!
I'd be curious to see how a good themed night goes - because some of the ones I go to sort of change step half way..
And for all you Britney fans out there - as per usual - there will be f*ck all for you on tonights show.
Sig Live Radio -- because it's not the size that counts... it's the frequency!

I personally like the song. It is great to play at parties. It is very high energy. Gets you in a wild party mood. You can take the lyrics as you want. I did find it disturbing though in Fahrenheit 9/11 how they like to listen to that song particulary when in fighting mode. But it is how you take it. I like the song. No reason to bitch about it...just push the STOP button.

As Paris said... it's high energy.. I can handle it, even if I've heard it and played it countless times on my own shows(people LOVE to request this one, don't they?). I've become immune to it after 2 years. But yes.. Pussy Control can die, LOL. Though I'd be irritated if someone threw bodies in a 70s or 60s(or whatever) set... I mean, it ain't worth screwing up a genre block/show.

I agree.... as a DJ the songs "Bodies", "Pussy Control" and "Closer" are WAAAAY overplayed/over-requested. I promise not to play them anymore unless the request comes with a $L1000 tip! HA!!!! I definitely want to play "Detachable Penis" by King Missile a lot more though! Muahahahaa Mrmm I haven't done a Ska night yet, but I have done Classic Rock night, Hair Band Night, Rock n Shock Divas night (all female rock singers), and Protest Rock night (right before the election!) I'm always looking for new themes to offset the nights where I take mostly just requests. And what sometimes irks me is when people request really oddball Hip-Hop or slow-dance songs in the MIDDLE of my HEAVY METAL Hoedown... HELLO?? I mean I love playing requests, but sooner or later I'm gonna have to just say NO LOL! Peace and happy building! Artillo [shameless_plug] Artillo's Heavy Metal Hoedown, Sunday and Tuesday nights, 10pm-2am EST, only on www.wickedkarma.com - Enlighten Your Radio! [/shameless_plug] Edited to /wave at my girl Sezmra!

From: someone Or like, perhaps a fourth chord could be added to the song? Never heard the song, but that'll be enough three-chord rock bashing from you! 75% of the Ramones died before they played a fourth chord, and they never needed it
