From: Lora Morgan I very rarely put people on ignore lists (actually before this, never). Because behind every post is a human with good points and bad. And even when I disagree with someone I still want to hear their viewpoint. But when every post is paragraphs and paragraphs of paranoid attacks, I just grow tired of scrolling past it all. Join us. You'll be glad you did, promise. The world is much more enjoyable without the mewling.

From: Trinity Serpentine Did Shadow just write something? I have him on ignore. Seriously, I think this is a great idea. I have refrained from reading and/or posting to several of the more antagonistic posters for months. My life is too short and some of the posts are too long-winded. Pfft you put me on ignore ages ago after I stole your beer. No wait you stole my beer...hey I want my damn beer back ....

From: Ardith Mifflin Many wise people have previously suggested that we ignore the tirades of the more colorful commentators of these forums. I'm finally seeing the light of this proposition. Thus, I propose that all members of the SL Forums who wish to see it end refrain from responding to those particularly egregious threads and their authors for 48 hours, beginning today at noon PST.
As of today, I vow to be part of the solution. I will not fuel the hatred of the prime nuisance or the berzerk stooge. Please join me in solidarity.

From: Jake Reitveld Why is reality tv most successful when there is drama involved? Other people's rancor makes me feel smugly superior of course. But then, if I actually watched TV, I'd watch Redneck TV. What can I say? Sometimes my guilty pleasure is being a dama whore. I do think there is room for constructive commentary here, I just have yet to see any, at least not in the general forum. With topics like this one, or "is av sex cheating" or "escorts in SL" I think the great joy of the General Forum is its tawdriness. But then again I buy the Weekly World News. Good on ya. I am relatively sure you are are making a sarcastic point, but here goes anyway. We have had forum blowouts in the past mind you, they just didn't last 6+ months, with day after day of haranguing, unsupported indictments of wrong doing against shadowy, undefined elements. I don't watch reality TV. I would rather watch soap operas. At least we know those people are acting. What a sad indictment. One that is being played out to an extent on these forums. For me, reality TV is a perplexing example of what this society is evolving towards. For that matter, I rarely watch national news anymore. I would rather read the National Enquirer, again, because I know its BS. Since 9-11 the media, all of the big ones, have become just a bunch of pigs at the top sucking the corpses of the victims for all they're worth. Fear mongering and collecting a big fat check. How nice. There is and can be constructive dialogue here, it just tends to get lost in all the smog. The smog creted by a few folks who sit here and red lining their engines all day every day.

. I disagree. Korg lasted as long and was even more offensive in his name calling and intentional attacks. He was just more honest about it, in a way. And there were others that certainly lasted a while before that. The main difference may be in who starts the threads these days. Korg would usually react to threads posted bu others, while some of the antagonists these days tend to start the threads themselves often times.

Well, the last post I can find from Korg is last fall, but the way the search thing works, he may have posted after that. He started in June, so that's four months or so, nitpicking I know. What isn't nitpicking is the fact that Korg, as you have stated, didn't start thread after thread every single day for six months and in the General section. Korg also didn't play mind games and try to pit people against one another. He was the true definition of curmudgeon, not afraid to unleash a verbal Pearl Harbor on anyone, he pretty much disliked anyone who wasn't a neo-con. not to mention korg was after a minority, i.e., Nberg. Prok and co. are intentionally fomenting unrest to try and change the way SL fundamentally operates.

I think it's funny that you guys have to use the ignore feature. Don't you have any self control? _ _ _
This situation is kind of a catch-22. You want to do something, but if you do then Avatar P will have justification for being victimized. ...And now you've actually gone and conspired against him. You've practically put the crown of thorns on his head.
Congratulations for making his conspiracy theories justifiably arguable.
I can only imagine the repercussions from this will far exceed the bluster of any of Avatar P's previous posts, and you won't be able to casually dismiss him with the "paranoia" defense. He might even gain sympathizers.
Count me out. Feh.

Great idea, Ardith, and I'm all for it.
It's been like watching a drunk scorpion sting itself to death...there's a momentary morbid fascination, but at some point you realize you just want to kick the damned thing off the front porch and go get dinner.

addendum- Conspire can mean "secret" but it can also mean "to act in harmony toward a common end"

Count me out. Feh. Nah, there's a difference between validation and vindication. This fool needs people to disagree with him to feel he means something. He's all about going into hiding now that people are actually angry enough with his constant spewing to remove him from their sight. Or has no one noticed? I sure have...

People voluntarily deciding to use the ignore tool (which I decided last night) in no way silences anyone. It just cuts of a supply of people willing to engage in discussions with someone unwilling to discuss anything. The ignored can keep right on posting, and has not been silenced - to claim otherwise is the type of hyperbole that prompted this.

When we talk about conpiracies, 99% of the time we are talking about hidden agendas - government, masonic, what have you. We can do it this way though. Thesaurus conspiracy noun A secret plan to achieve an evil or illegal end: cabal, collusion, connivance, intrigue, machination, plot, scheme. See crimes, planned/unplanned. Just saw your addendum.

As much as I don't care to read some things posted by some people I can't for the life of me understand this mentality of shunning....Basically you are saying that another human being has no merit whatsoever and that is just bullshit. I don't agree with everything that is said in the forums and sometimes I may argue the point and say things I don't really mean...but to tell someone that they are completely invalid and have no merit is complete and utter bullshit.
Its funny how I see some people championing this cause and they have been here a whole month....If you don't like someones posts dont read them....but don't act superior and shun people and get your friends to as well...it makes you look like a complete asshole.
As for the forums...I would say its a sad day when this mentality takes hold because its no better than the pitchfork and torch shit.....
Could care less whatever tepid flames come my way because the forums are complete shit now anyway....and there is no reason to hang out here anymore.....I just can't believe the people jumping on this bandwagon.

From: Talen Morgan Basically you are saying that another human being has no merit whatsoever Not at all. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm saying the person I am ignoring is someone whose thoughts have so fallen short of interest that I can no longer justify granting them the opportunity of presenting them to me. It just happens to be a parallel conclusion that the poster in question is a borderline personality in need of therapy. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
