Many wise people have previously suggested that we ignore the tirades of the more colorful commentators of these forums. I'm finally seeing the light of this proposition. Thus, I propose that all members of the SL Forums who wish to see it end refrain from responding to those particularly egregious threads and their authors for 48 hours, beginning today at noon PST.
As of today, I vow to be part of the solution. I will not fuel the hatred of the prime nuisance or the berzerk stooge. Please join me in solidarity.

There is something so fundamentally cool about this.

Better yet, just add the more gregarious posters to your ignore list.

Signed, and I think as LF has suggested, to go one step further and place them on ignore. I already have Prokofy on ignore, although I can see him quoted in other's posts. Anyway, I will go with this 48 hour shunning, hopefully after that period, people will choose to continue to ignore them.

I great way to demonstrate your personal power. Everyone should indeed make a choice as to whether they wish to make things "larger and more negative" or let them stay small and insignificant when dealing with hostile or negative posts.

I have placed Prokofy on ignore as well - I just wish people would stop quoting, or that ignore would ignore quotes I definitely think not feeding this particularly voracious troll is a good idea.

Count me in. Why stop at 48 hours though? I'm going to make a concerted effort to not respond at all to these individuals anymore. I tried before and only lasted for about 24 hours before morbid curiosity sucked me back in.

Alright alright.. I get it, this is upsetting you all.
I'll chill out. Never really thought people would take it this seriously, but after some consideration I should have reliased this SecondLife is a bigger deal to everyone than I originally thought.

Well Jake, I suppose one of the functions of a community forum is to entertain, but really -- why support flooding the place with shit when you could as easily have a sharing of ideas without rancor and no attention whores?

i stopped responding several days ago. over the weekend i realized that i'd automatically stopped reading threads once i saw specific names. that clicks for me well enough that i don't need to use the forum ignore list. i just don't read any more of the thread from that point.
it's a stretch for me. i like to understand what people are thinking and i like to be generally informed. it hurts to understand that people don't actally have a point but are just waffling through verbose contradictions to keep useless conversations cycling through threads like griefers leaving trails of autorezzing physical objects for us to follow and deal with.
anyway, it seems that when some people start posting in a thread, the thread become all about their ramblings. ignore is inadequate because everything that follows focuses on the pointless diatribes that i wouldn't be reading in the first place. i suppose it does make the forums less useful than they've been to me in the past. is that maybe the goal? if the forum were perceived as being a useful tool of the privaleged few, it would have to be destroyed as a matter of course. oh but there is no course so that can't be it. ha ha now i'm rambling. it's contagious and i'm infected. shoot me now!

Why is reality tv most successful when there is drama involved? Other people's rancor makes me feel smugly superior of course. But then, if I actually watched TV, I'd watch Redneck TV. What can I say? Sometimes my guilty pleasure is being a dama whore. I do think there is room for constructive commentary here, I just have yet to see any, at least not in the general forum. With topics like this one, or "is av sex cheating" or "escorts in SL" I think the great joy of the General Forum is its tawdriness. But then again I buy the Weekly World News.

Did Shadow just write something? I have him on ignore. Seriously, I think this is a great idea. I have refrained from reading and/or posting to several of the more antagonistic posters for months. My life is too short and some of the posts are too long-winded.

I very rarely put people on ignore lists (actually before this, never). Because behind every post is a human with good points and bad. And even when I disagree with someone I still want to hear their viewpoint. But when every post is paragraphs and paragraphs of paranoid attacks, I just grow tired of scrolling past it all.
