It wouldn't be incest technically but morally...hard to even imagine a father and daughter wanting to do something like that. You'd know who it was behind the avatar and I can't imagine that being healthy for the real life relationship. Yes it is your buisness and it's just my opinion.

If they met in SL and didn't know each others identities and then got closer, perhaps spilling out into RL think of all the problems. That situation would end up being a very sad one for the two involved AND disturbing.

Unless everyone in this thread was invited to judge the roleplay of the people in question then you really have no business doing it. The original poster never even specified if this was a hypothetical question or not. If it's not then shouldn't we assume that both participants are over 18? As far as I know there are no laws against consenting adults roleplaying together and it's not our place to judge them for it, no matter how weird we might think it is.

Well, since we live and die under the assumption that all SL players are over the age of 18, then we must assume that these people are of the age of consent.

It really doesn't fall within my morals to have any kind of sexual overtones with my relatives...That doesn't mean that people don't have these feelings, however. I must admit I'm intrigued, and even titillated, by stories of forbidden love between a brother and a sister. Heck, on SL, Liona's backstory has my best friend's character being her brother...and we flirt on a regular basis.

Incestual relationships in RL would generate a *lot* of thorny problems, IMHO...and I really don't condone them. Of course, there are a *lot* of things that I'd do in SL that I would never do in RL...

Since "sexual relations" is pretty open-ended, I would probably classify something like that under "incestuous", not "incest". The third dictionary.com defininition of "incestuous" is "Improperly intimate or interconnected", which seems more fitting here.

It's actually a really interesting question, and I'd be interested to know the story behind it. Things that we just accept as the cultural norm become fuzzy and distorted online.

I mean, in this model, there would be no -actual- sex going on between these two people. If I met someone in SL, had wild poseball sex with them, then later met them in real life, would I say I had already slept with them? If I were a virgin and had cybersex with some girl in a chatroom, would I not be a virgin anymore?

It all comes back to feelings, I guess.

If this father/daughter couple were thinking about the other's avatars during "nasty" things, and not the actual people behind it, then would it be any less "indecent" than if they were just having av sex as a way to "bypass" the cultural taboo of having -actual- sex? When they see each other in RL, do they exchange knowing glances, or is there nothing out of the ordinary, and they both just see this as a completely non-sexual addition to their real-life relationship? Some people -can- have extremely intimate SL relationships with zero overflow into RL. It's not easy for most people to do, sure, but it's possible. And, if that were the case here, would it make it less incestuous?
