From: Ahkin Pierce In regards to:
"utterly stupid poll by the way, no thats not biased in the slightest."
I am not biting. lol IMO it *is* a stupid poll, but only because the options are not adequate. Plenty of people that make No Transfer items will send them to others as gifts on your behalf if you ask. I sell houses. I *always* sell them as copy/mod/no trans. This means that people can put a copy out and modify it as much as they like, but still revert to another fresh copy from their inventory if it all goes wrong. This is clearly the best option for buyers, people want to be able to modify their homes (from changing wall colors to making structural changes), but inevitably they occasionally make a mistake or decide they want to start again (obviously the 'undo' in sl is not sufficient to revert a wrongly changed texture). If I wanted to make more money I could sell them a single no copy/transferable/modifiable copy, and when they mess up I could sell them another, and so on.... Would you suggest I sell my houses copy/mod/trans? So that everybody that ever bought my house can give them away to everybody else for free, or even sell copies they have made? There are right and wrong situations for using no transfer, but if used correctly it can be a great option for the buyer and seller alike.

Its ignorant , not stupid. I start threads to understand ...clearly cause i do not understand to begin with and therefore should be no suprise that I dont have all the proper options of a "Smart" poll there.
But please I dont want this to become a letter war of who is stupid, ignorant or in control of the world. I have learned alot and am grateful.
That vcoucher thing is neat. More info on that please please.

coder breaker

From: someone Would you suggest I sell my houses copy/mod/trans? So that everybody that ever bought my house can give them away to everybody else for free, or even sell copies they have made? I spoke to a customer today that told me the house he bought was not going to fit his lot and he wanted a refund. We had been hit hard last month from a woman that bought a lot of homes...ended up going with someone else and then wanted her money back for all the homes *yes plural* she bought from us. (We weren't the only builders either this happened too.) We took the loss as we had no written policy on the lot at that time, and promptly put a sign up the next day as well as notecards in information posts on our lot and at the mall in Netherback. the reason for the no refunds was...the house was non-transferable. Effectively giving the house away for free, for a later time when maybe it was a build they could use, or even mod to something else. This gentleman accepted that we didn't give refunds then immediately told me he had a "code breaker" and would beable to sell the house to someone else to get his money back. What I don't know is if this "code breaker" will also leave the house in that very condition of mod/copy/transfer, and such be available in world as Mars states. I truely do not have a problem if person "A" could resell a home and have it flagged to go to no transfer the moment that one copy is sold or given, but that is way out on the developement horizon, so like Mars said, its the tools we have now, and as you have read, even those are no match for the determinded. I am at a complete loss what to do. Being told something is not the same as the person actually doing it. I have emailed him to tell him how I feel about it, and I guess until I actually see free copies of my house out there in world, or worse, resold by someone else, there is nothing for me to "show" to LL. My only recourse now, is to keep selling homes as we have, as I fully agree with Mars is the only fair and reasonable thing to do when it comes to homes. -Taylor Jacobs Co-owner, Dominion Custom Homes

What I don't know is if this "code breaker" will also leave the house in that very condition of mod/copy/transfer, and such be available in world as Mars states. If this person found a way to make "no transfer" items transferable, then that could cause some problems for content creators since their creations could be copied and then resold. I have heard of some people finding a way to "resell" no transferable items by offering the seller to place the item on their land for a small fee. In this case, since the item is copyable the person doesn't lose it. I personally prefer my settings to be: ~ clothes: no transfer/copy/mod, so the person can add the clothing item into different folders and adjust the article to better suit them. If a person wants to give clothing as a gift, I will gladly send it to the other person in a box along with a message. ~ dolls, toys and creatures: no mod/ no copy/ transfer, due to what is mentioned above. Also to preserve the contents (textures, scripts, etc.) from being copied. ~ furniture: mod, no copy, transfer If LL ever decides to separate the "give away" and "resell" permissions, I would probably then make the items copyable and given away.
