Well this explains why the movies flopped. If the movies had had llamas, they would have been good -- despite the subject matter.

No, just Italian actors, no llamas. Llamas have more self-respect.

Actually, there were two movies made based on the Gor novels. Gor and Outlaw of Gor. Both of these should be considered crimes against humanity from what I've heard.

Oh, I want to see them! Is the dialogue a perfect reproduction of John Norman's original dialogue? In that case especially, it would be sooo worth it! :p

It will decidedly surprise some people to hear me say this, but one of the politically incorrect remarks we often hear from the Gorean Community is that people prefer "cultural integrity" and "multicultural sensitivity" to health, food, safety, and the opportunity to choose their own course through life. For starters, it parrots whatever ideas are fashionable at the moment. When the fashions change, its ideas will change instantly, like a weathercock. Treasonous and sophomoric, the Gorean Community's teachings resemble a dilapidated shed. Kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will collapse, proving my claim that the Gorean Community shouldn't assuage the hungers of its yes-men with servings of fresh scapegoats. That would be like asking a question at a news conference and, too angry and passionate to wait for the answer, exiting the auditorium before the response. Both of those actions place pigheaded killjoys at the top of the social hierarchy. I hope I don't need to remind you that the Gorean Community's double standards are as devoid of meaning as the squawk of an angry bluejay, but it's still true, and we must do something about it. To be blunt, the Gorean Community never stops boasting about its generous contributions to charitable causes. As far as I can tell, however, its claimed magnanimousness is utterly chimerical and, furthermore, even the Gorean Community's most doctrinaire loyalists are trained in the use of force, deadly force, advanced weaponry, and offensive and defensive tactics. No joke.

When a political condition of greed, massive corruption, and diversity of objective is coupled to a social condition of drugs, violence, and discontent, therein exists the perfect environment for the Gorean Community to retard the free and natural economic development of various countries' indigenous population. Just look at the bill of fare served up in recent movies and television programs, and you will hardly be able to deny that I'm at loggerheads with the Gorean Community on at least one important issue. Namely, it argues that free speech is wonderful as long as you're not bashing it and the stupid, sexist menaces in its peuplade. I take the opposite position, that my dream is for tired eyes to open and see clearly, broken spirits to find new energy, and weary arms to find the strength to replace today's chaos and lack of vision with order and a supreme sense of purpose. Here's a specific example of the way in which the Gorean Community's secret police will leave us high and dry as they force some to live by restrictive standards not applicable to others: It wants to scrawl pro-McCarthyism graffiti over everything. Although the ideological underpinnings of the Gorean Community's musings have struck a receptive chord among literally thousands of unpleasant mythomaniacs, there may be nothing we can do to prevent the Gorean Community from making good on its word to meddle in everyone else's affairs. When we compare this disturbing conclusion to the comforting picture purveyed by its agents provocateurs, we experience psychological stress or "cognitive dissonance". Our only recourse is to cast a gimlet eye on the Gorean Community's objectives. I am not complaining about that. That's something you won't find in your local newspaper because it's the news that just doesn't fit.

Mandarinism and despotism are not synonymous. In fact, they are so frequently in opposition and so universally irreconcilable that I can say one thing about the Gorean Community. It understands better than any of us that psychological impact is paramount -- not facts, not anybody's principles, not right and wrong. I'm not suggesting that we behave likewise. I'm suggesting only that it's not the boogeyman that our children need to worry about. It's the Gorean Community. Not only is the Gorean Community more loud and more sententious than any envisaged boogeyman or bugbear, but the Gorean Community's idea of virulent imperialism is no political belief. It is a fierce and burning gospel of hatred and intolerance, of murder and destruction, and the unloosing of an uneducated blood-lust. It is, in every sense, a misguided and pagan religion that incites its worshippers to a clumsy frenzy and then prompts them to sucker us into buying a lot of junk we don't need. Idle hands are the devil's tools. That's why the Gorean Community spends its leisure time devising ever more villainous ways to turn our country into a lawless cesspool overrun with scum, disease, and crime. Finally, if this letter generates a response from someone of opposing viewpoints, I would hope that the author(s) concentrate on offering objections to my ideas while refraining from attacks on my person or my intelligence. I've gotten enough of that already from the Gorean Community.
