my email to ActiveWorlds
09-28-2005 09:21
I emailed support at AW and asked them:
> > Is it true that Active Worlds awgate will autokick a player for > > typing SECOND LIFE in chat? Ive seen player logs where this has > > happened. They replied: > Our belief is that everyone should have more then a second life, at > minimum a third or fourth, preferably a fifth. I wrote back: > Man, that's a weird thing to say. Do you mind if I publish your > response in the SL forums? If you say no, I'll respect that. And they said: > Sorry, we are just goofing with you ![]() I took their lack of a "no" as permission and published the email here. Their attitude strikes me as creepy. Anyone else get that feeling? _____________________

I THINK AW was the first VR world I explored before joining There, and then SL. This thread is gonna cause no end of grief to those poor peeps at AW as more people pop on over to annoy them with the phrase Second Life hehe.
U should all be ashamed of URselves hehe _____________________

It appears like their correspondence to you wasn't taking your question seriously as to policy. I asked numerous times where could I find more info about this rule and I got some volunteer answers, but nothing clear and concise from the AW staff themselves. Needless to say, Third Life? We're well on track! ![]() _____________________

Yea to SL
09-28-2005 12:03
You know besides how crazy that you can't say "second life", I think it's rather amazing that we can talk about and even invite others to other games in SL freely and openly in the forum or chats.
People occasionally go back to old haunts, maybe a few at a dance "hey I'm heading over to There, what's your screen name?" and to my knowledge SL makes no objection to this. Most just flock back to SL and LL knows it ![]() Why to go SL and boo to fear-based actions on other "worlds". |

Needless to say, Third Life? We're well on track! ![]() Are you suggesting someone build a portable metaverse within the metaverse? What Gibson book was that... Mona Lisa Overdrive? _____________________

All this kinda makes me appreciate the Lindens more.
Has anyone logged into Second Life and said, "Active Worlds", recently? ![]() _____________________

All this kinda makes me appreciate the Lindens more. Has anyone logged into Second Life and said, "Active Worlds", recently? ![]() Sure have... I must have mentioned it over a dozen times with a few friends a few weeks back when we were discussing experiences in online worlds. Didn't get kicked. At all. _____________________
