What makes life better?

Mistress may be the true aficionado of horrible old movies, but I know a few myself.

As for what you're getting into, Lorelei ... hmm. I want to say something about it, but I'm not quite sure how to put it into words. The thing is, as you know, I have a very dark outlook on the world, and I see an even darker future on the horizon. You would probably take from this that I'm depressed and overcome with hopelessness, or perhaps anger, but neither is entirely true ... at all, even.

In actual fact, in spite of my outlook, and in spite of my own personal problems (which are many), I feel that I've kind of found a certain measure of inner peace lately, and I feel somehow that it stems chiefly from two things: an understanding and acceptance of what we, as human beings, both are and are not, and more importantly, an understanding and acceptance of myself, of my deepest needs and what drives me.

Too, I think maybe it has a little to do with letting go, accepting what I can't change without hiding from it.

But I'm really not sure that I'm putting it all into words properly, or even that I'm truly putting my finger on what it is that I feel. All I can say with certainty is that even if I died today, I would, although I would be sad to be gone from those whom I love, feel that it was worth it, no matter what death itself brings.

Alex, I know we've had differences, but underneath it all I really do respect you a lot.

I'm about to head out on a weekend trip (yay!) and I don't know if the forums will be up and running when I get back.

If they're not, I hope I run into you on one of the 3rd party sites.

If the SL forums are still here ... we'll just pick up where we left off.

I'm sure we'll run into each other again eventually. If nothing else, by the middle of this month, I should be able to get back into SL, and we can meet there, if you like.
