Terrorism is so far down on the scale of things that people need to worry about it's almost laughable. The sensationalism it generates is completely out of proportion with its true threat. If you want to see how you'll die, look at this here.

I think people should have a choice. There should be 2 kinds of flights:

1) maximum security plane, arrive 4 hours before flight, have cavity search, don't carry anything aboard

2) normal flight, no cavity search, you can take hand luggage on, you can have your laptop on (and not stolen), arrive only 1 hour before flight, only reasonable screenings. Tickets to this type would be about 20% cheaper due to reduced security costs.

I would surely choose flights of the 2nd type. Less fuss, faster flight, cheaper, etc.

Of course. And in America, people are more likely to die in a traffic accident.

The difference, though, is that we seek to prevent accidents and disease but when they happen it's usually not because someone purposely wanted to kill a lot of people.

Death by terrorism is like Paris Hilton giving a blowjob on video. Paris doesn't do it as often as the other few million people doing it daily on video. But it attracts more attention.

Seek to prevent accidents? Given that owning guns is still legal in (most) of the USA and there are many many gun accidents, wouldn't 'seek to prevent' mean outlawing guns for most of the people?

Why don't the real terrorists get air time? Because it doesn't serve politicians by helping them get elected, pay for wars that they want, and fund the military-industrial corporations they work for.

I don't know about gun laws, I don't live in the USA. What I know is there would SURELY be much less gun accidents if guns were banned 'for the average person', and only available to military/law enforcement.
