Lots at http://news.bbc.co.uk/ including a live tv news feed.
Truly sickening. How can people come and live amongst us for years, then want to do this? Lewis _____________________

I'm currently at work in an office block very close to Manchester Airport. We've seen armed police and military vehicles all over the place this morning, and it's so eery when there isn't a single plane in the air...given how accustomed you get to their constant presence overhead. I dread to think how long it will take me to get home later given the gridlock outside, but it's worth it I guess...if lives were saved by these measures. Edit: Armed police = highly unusual, noticeable, unsettling...here in UK. Might not seem beyond the norm in some countries. _____________________

Hmmm, I'm supposed to be flying on Continental from Manchester next Thursday to go to the SLCC. I'm not a fantastic fan of flying at the best of times and something like this just makes me feel even worse, especially as the US are saying that Continental was one of the airlines believed to be targeted.

One way to look at it is that flights are more likely to be a lot safer after this event, than they would have been before it. |

TBH, I'd feel safer flying over the next couple of weeks. Security will be at an optimum because of today's events. No hand luggage for anybody leaving the few remaining airports open today for example (are they all in Scotland?). Maybe that emergency measure, and others, will continue for a few days/weeks. _____________________

Yes, I'll probably feel more comfortable flying next week if the hand luggage restrictions are still in place, however inconvenient they may be. _____________________

Hum Today is August 10.... little less than 3 months from the elections.... Perfect timing One wonders if this happened months ago and they are just now releasing the details to influence the elections in the US (After all, we did the same to help ole Tony during his difficult election and he won) Or did this ever happen at all? If this had happened, say December, January or February, or in an Off Election year, I would be able to believe it a bit more than now. because its happening just about the right time to influence elections in the United States, I find this whole plot very hard to believe. The World Wonders |

The World Wonders well since it would be rather hard to conceal this in the UK since it is rather large and involves alot of people, all of which have a mouth. The world doesn't wonder. |

But then, the British have kept things secret before and NO IT IS NOT hard to keep hidden, especially after the various acts they passed to keep things secret over there. I suspect that the Republicans now know I am not going away. |

Take this back to your boss in GOP HQ. Its not working. better try something else, I'm not going away. hmm except that it involves about 10,000 people and the more people involved the harder it is to keep quiet. So now that your little conspiracy theory is over, what are you gonna do? btw I'm not a Republican so hate to burst your bubble. |

Planes are still going into Heathrow. I'm in Clapham Junction and the 3 main holding stacks converge over Clapham Common. Most days we get non-stop fanjet whoosh, rumble'n'whine in spite of being over 20 miles from Heathrow. BAA insists on planes flying way too low over London. It's thinned out a bit, but they're still going overhead albeit at longer intervals. The last time we had any peace and quiet here was the time they had the tanks out at Heathrow. So yeh, more terrorist alerts / scares please if that's the only way to get some respite from the godawful noise pollution here.

But then, they kept the Atomic Bomb a secret till they blew one up in 1945 The Official Secrets Acts (I think thats the name) will land you in the slammer for 10 years if you say one word about things made National Security Secrets etc. Try again and stop falling on the ole "Its a conspiracy theory blanket" Thats getting very old |
