Well London sounds a great idea, if anything is planned over a weekend I MOST DEFINITELY will come. Munich is a fab idea too, it's an amating city and the beer is purrrrty yummy! And I'd volunteer to translate whatever needs to be translated....

May I suggest 2 events, one in the next 4 weeks or so, and one closer to Christmas (or shortly after) for the shopping spree! "Take cover, the SL ladies are coming!!!!!"

As you know we are very much involved with sponsoring of the NYC SLconvention in early October, not too mention being part of SOPIII.

I would though like to table an idea:

SL-UK London meetup (to be known as the SLUK'ERs meet.)

One night only in London, in a prebooked room for around 10-40 people (this can be increased if need be).

We will also provide a 1000EURO bartab and some food. Plus the booking fee for the room.

It will be around the Clerkenwell area, with its close links to Farringdon/Kings Cross etc.

I was thinking the 13th Sept 2005, from 7pm to 10pm (or later)

We will also bring with us, A0 large white backed boards, so you can write on your goodwill messages or questions etc. These boards will then be taken over to NYC for the convention.

However, I think any date in a month or 1.5 is just too early, you need time to organize, spread the news, etc. Besides, though there are cheap flights to London from many parts of Europe, they too are pricey if you say "I want to fly in 6 days from now".

Hey, 13th is just an idea... we can make it any day that week, 14,15,16,17th...

Not dead as far as I know, but happy to be woken up

I still have my dental work ongoing - with any luck this will be finished in November - so I don't feel entirely presentable at the moment. In the meantime I'm hoping someone else will get things started.

From experience with the SLCC in NYC -

If you're looking to do a full-blown Con, I strongly recommend more than 2 months planning. It's been a lot of work - a LOT of hard work and cooperation, not to mention some luck to get things ready for the Oct 9 convention; 2 months and a week was a might rush for planning.

If you're looking to do a one-night meeting of 10-40 people, you could probably get away with a month notice.

Much luck with this. I really do hope the fever of people wanting to meet spreads!

Thank you - I'm in admiration of anyone getting something like that organised. I did envisage just informal gatherings this year - maybe a big thing in the Spring when people will feel like getting out more. Easter perhaps? Would love to hear preferences.
