From: Tren Neva I remember when it was good manners to tolerate Billy, even though he rarely showered. Now tolerance is accepting the 32 you old man with urine fetish that pretends he is a 6 year old hermaphidite sex vixen. *spits coke out on his monitor* aaaahahahahahaha

From: Lewis Nerd You know, I've never understood this.
When people say "you're intolerant", and criticise people for holding a particular point of view that they disagree with, then aren't they themselves being intolerant, and completely invalidating their point?
Lewis Thats a ridiculous arguement that can end up going round and round. When one person says "I hate so and so group." That is intolerance. When someone else points out that that is an intolerant statement, you come back with "You're being intolerant by not tolerating their intollerance".... ???? heh? The quotes Selador posted were harsh statements and he was saying so. "I hate Goreans".... why? Hate is such a strong emotion. How about "I don't like what Goreans do."... "I'm not comfortable around Goreans so I avoid them."... "I keep to myself and would like them to keep to themselves." All of those statements, while they likely won't make many Goreans happy, at least they only state an opinion without resorting to harsh words words like "hate". Why is it necessary to hate anyone?

Hmmmm.
I'm relatively new here, my investment to date as a premium mamber has been quite modest and well within the guidelines I set out for myself, based on all the information I was able to study and understand about Second Life. I understood and accepted that this was an experiment. I understood and accepted that the TOS was specific about what was and wasn't. I scaled my expectations and financial involvement accordingly. I'm not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, can't script well, so-so at prim manipulation, etc.
So how is it that all of you who complain about lost investment, forelorn hopes dashed on the rocks of unfortunate reality, have missed these simple facts? Did you willingly ignore the ages-old admonition of Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware? I am in awe of the contributions that have been made in SL - some of you have very heavy investments there which perhaps were committed at the cost of involvement in RL.
And to demand from Linden Labs some sort of social responsibility because SL isn't a gated community, is a trifle naif. But wait - this is part of the countless nearly but not quite idenitcal threads that endless repeat this same refrain. The answer is simple - if it's not working and the vendor is unresponsive - take your money elsewhere. Cut your losses. Stop throwing good money after bad. If you can't afford the expenditure, or the uncertainty, or the change controls (oxymoron?) or the griefers, or the rude people, or the furries, or the Goreans, or the forums trolls - or the forums in general, move. Leave. Shake the dust off your SL sandals and make for the next town.
OR
Lower your expectations. Apply creativity to your problems and find a fun and effective solution - chances are your solution will be far and away better than anything Linden Labs could come up with anyway.

Why is it necessary to take someones opinion of you so seriously? I can't imagine goreans getting upset over comments like that, because they are apart of a community that is an open target for this. It's really becoming god damn ridiculous how bad the "acceptance" mentally has gotten. It's ok to dislike someone because they roleplay a member of a sex slave ring that worships giant golden insects from outer space or some other crazy shit, ya know. This stuff has come to a point where it's ok, if not expected, to hate it. When someones "lifestyle", be it real life or secondlife/etc, gets to the point where just the concept can very well make people throw up, you better expect the word hate to pop up, cause it's going to happen.
