Hey guys Still in SF, but it was nice to put a face to a face Some people I definately wish I could spend more time with, but such is life. I'm probably forgetting a lot of people, but thanks to Flip & Jenn & everyone for setting up SLCC, Drift for doing the Crow Bar and Ben for doing alt-zoom. Disclaimer: We just got back from the bar. Contracts in this post are non-binding. PS. If you haven't met Flip, I have to admit - it's impressive his ability to be completely sloshed and awake at the same time

Since this is turning into the "thank you" thread, I'll start here, and edit over the course of the day as I remember more people to thank! (There are literally so many, I'm sure I'll forget some.) I'll resist the urge to make the rest of the thread big, red, and bold. First off, thank you to all of our sponsors. Like I've said several times, the cost was far below what it would typically cost us per head. Without the sponsors, the price would have likely doubled. Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers; I can't re-enforce enough how much this was a full team effort. Extra big thanks for key organizer Jeska Linden, who is the most detail oriented person I've ever had the pleasure of working with; she ensured nothing fell through the cracks. Thanks to Bub Linden for stepping up to the plate with any pain-in-the-arse menial task that came along... with a grin. A big shout out to Adam Zaius, Chad Statosky, Hudson and Miz from Server Cave... thanks so much for keeping as much of the audio and video streams rolling throughout the weekend as possible. Y'all really stepped up to the plate and I owe ya big. Thanks to everyone who helped get the extra copies of the Metaverse Messenger from Fort Mason back to Linden Lab, and all the real world media who recognized that our event has merit: Daniel Terdiman from C-Net, Regina Lynn from Wired, Spike TV, Kathleen Craig from Wired, GETV, and all the rest who I may not have run into. Double thank you to Regina Lynn and Daniel Terdiman for being on panels and giving us exterior views of Second Life. And most importantly, thanks to the entire community who attended; everyone pitched in at some point during the weekend, and Jenn and I were saddened to leave yesterday. It truly felt like we were leaving the best family reunion ever.<3 -Flip

just woke up i got home at 7 pm last night east time and went right to bed slept for almost 12 hours. LOL i needed it after this past weekend. what can i say the convention was a complete and utter success!! congrats to Flip and Jenn and Jeska and all the many other organizers and volunteers that made the convention what it was. It was such a great pleasure to meet every one I only wish i could of met every single person at the convention but for the many i did meet and talk with. It was to say the very least just an overwhelming and and awesome experience to meet so many people in the flesh. I have come away from the convention with a renewed sense of respect and admiration for every one I met at the convention residents and lindens.
ohhhh yea I can tell you this the folks that we call Lindens are some of the most dedicated and wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They are a truly a dedicated bunch of people who are dedicated to giving us the best that they humanly can. Having had the pleasure of talking with many of them through out the week that I was In San Fransisco I can tell you that every single Linden cares and and is very interested in what we say. They were just as interested in meeting the residents as we residents were in meeting them. This is the great thing that about meeting people in the flesh you can hear the Passion in there voice and see it in there face. Something you cant get in any other way.
more to come have to get to work now *Big hugs to you all * Crucial

It's going to take me a couple of weeks to recover from my "vacation" in San Francisco, and I only had one drink!
It was incredible to meet everyone.

I arrived in Waco at 10:30pm last night with a cold, ears that had not popped yet and a skinned knee, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Thank you so much to everyone that came to our machinima festival at Kennedy's and made it a total success. I had the most awesome roommate, Mistress Midnight.
Thanks to Mis, Asri, Randy Moss, Fizik Baskerville, Hunter Cline, Spin Martin, Astrid Ophelia, Jennyfur Peregrine, FlipperPA Peregrine, LL, Dave Zeeman, and last, but certainly not least, Ben Linden aka BuhBuhCuh Fairchild!
It's 8am and I've had maybe 2 hours of sleep thanks to the "Linden flu". Gonna try to get more rest. *waves*

I am sitting in the airport, waiting for my ride, after taking a red-eye flight out of SF last night. I cannot wait until I get home and actually sleep before I say how thankful I am for such an amazing crowd of people at SLCC this year.
Beyond the generous sponsors and the talented organizers (where else could you get such a group to pull this off?), the attendees made this event incredibly special. Thanks SO much for partying Friday night at the Cowell theatre and Saturday night at the Crow Bar - that's the stuff that makes live musicians and DJs encouraged to keep streaming their music in world.
Fantastic. Sign me up for next year!
(((((((((((((((hugs, all!))))))))))))))))))))

From: Phoenix Psaltery I just got back from the SLCC about 30 minutes ago, after missing my morning flight and having to take a later one that took me through Chicago O'Hare with a three hour layover. In spite of this, I am positively glowing with excitement. There will be, I am sure, lots of commentary about the SLCC here, and this week's Metaverse Messenger will, of course, be heavy with SLCC news. And I just have to say... Taco Rubio... you're my hero! P2 Even though he was not an albino midget? It was nice meeting you btw!

Okay...the jetlag has been slept off enough that I can post coherently (maybe)
First and foremost...what an amazing job by the organizing commitee!! Mega kudos!! It was my first trip to San Fran, a perfect backdrop to SLCC '06. There is no way I can encapsulate my experiences here, I met so many wonderful people. I hope to post MY pics in the next day or two.
For anyone who is doubtful about the commitment that Linden Labs has to Second Life, ask anyone who attended the convention. Sure, we can complain and bitch about lag or open enrollment, but having spoken with many of Lindens there I am walking away with a renewed sense of dedication. LL is in for the "long haul".
If I had to say one thing that impressed me most, it was meeting the person behind the avatar. We all have more in common than I realized. Everyone I met was engaging, personable and vibrant. I did not meet one single stereotypical "geek". Baccara was my tour guide throughout SF. What a dynamo this woman is! (great navigator as well) The memories will always be cherished.
Two things that will permanently be etched on my brain...never drive faster than 40 mph over the hills of SF...additionally...there is only ONE place to get booze at 2:30 a.m.
I am going back to bed now...3 days without sleep to catch up on.

I know next to nothing about IRC, and a Google search on how to find #secondlife is coming up empty But I'll keep trying! Never mind, I found instructions at: /108/91/121106/1.html

I just wanted to say a Big Kudos to Jenn, Flip, Jeska and the entire team. You guys did an amazing job. I have been home now for nearly 4 hours now after being in and around planes for 20 hours, but soooo worth it.
It was fantastic to put faces to names finally.

I'm so jealous! I really wish I could have made it this year, because I had a great time last year and looked forward to seeing everyone again and meeting everyone else. I'll just live vicariously through the pics and videos, so keep postin' em!
