Just back from SLCC

I just got back from the SLCC about 30 minutes ago, after missing my morning flight and having to take a later one that took me through Chicago O'Hare with a three hour layover.

In spite of this, I am positively glowing with excitement. There will be, I am sure, lots of commentary about the SLCC here, and this week's Metaverse Messenger will, of course, be heavy with SLCC news.

And I just have to say...

Taco Rubio... you're my hero!

:p

Phoenix - let me just say what a pleasure it was to meet you and Katt. I'm still recovering from this weekend, but have many great memories (yes, I can remember it all!).

I can't wait for next year.

I loved meeting everyone. Deep thanks to Jen and Flip for once again managing to pull off the impossible with such Goth-inflected aplomb. (Along with their army of volunteers.)

SLCC 2006 was a lot of fun. It was good to meet you all. The demo using 2001 SL was a highlight.

I look forward to 2007.

Thanks for the link, Hamlet :)

Gamasutra just posted a nice writeup of Mitch Kapor's keynote. Quite inspiring. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=10348

Frogg and I got back last night close to midnight. I really had a blast at the convention, and even learned a few things about driving in large cities :D

Thanks to everyone who took pictures and posted them places as for some reason I forgot I had a camera and neglected to take pics.

I'll post a big thank you tomorrow, but we're back, safe and sound, in Philadephia. I can't thank everyone involved enough, and it was great to meet some many friends in a flesh after literally YEARS of amazing birtual friendships. :)

THAT MEANS YOU TACO.

;)

I'm still in San Fran, and don't leave till late late tommorow night back to Detroit. (I thought I'd make a week vacation out of this thing & see the city).

It was really awesome meeting everyone - and seeing the real person behind the AV. Not once was I disappointed. :)

It was very hard to say goodbye to everyone. I had a sick and unmeasurable amount of fun!

Kudos to Flipper and Jen for doing such an awesome job; I couldn't thank you enough in person and I still can't thank you enough now!

I second Travis in saying that not once was I disappointed with anyone I met. I think some very real problems were addressed and getting together and having ideas shared got a lot figured out, prioritized and done. Though I was never once there for the business side of things (OPEN BAR WOO!), I am glad I attended the meetings and panels that I did. It assured me that our concerns are being addressed.

I never once met a rude person who was there, and everyone was extremely friendly. I thought the videos Rivers Run Red had done were very touching. I tried to meet as many Lindens as I could but as the time went on and the drinks started flowing, it was hard not to get caught up in a conversation with a complete stranger.

It is a surreal experience to put a face to a name, and I already cannot wait until I can do it all again next year. Even helping to cart 15,000 flyers to Linden Labs was worth it just to see the inside of the building.

Hugs to all :)
