There were 22 postings under classified for May 5th and 24 police blotter entries of disciplinary action against them in the police blotter.

E-mails came from Linden Lads "support" (ha!) department about disciplinary actions. This is an Outrageous level of harassment from the company that I pay to provide ME services. In response for requests for better event listing filtering tools Linden Labs sent out a blanket disciplinary action to all commercial posters. Brilliant customer service plan.

And this e-mail came at midnight (New York time) on Friday so they wont recieve 22 angry customer support phone calls.

Why don't you post what your event was?

If it didn't follow the event rules, like the majority of "commercial" events, you have no valid complaints.

Nice to see LL finally getting off their arses and cleaning up the event calendar.

It's not like they haven't been giving subtle hints, like deleting the ones that are commercial without saying a word about it.

And it clearly says in the posting rules no commercial postings. Buy a classified ad, they work great.

Still, I think maybe some written warnings would have been a better middle step considering they have been ignoring the problem for so long. Which is sort of like implying that it's fine.

Good job, LL.

Link about some change that LL might do, if the community doesn't coöperate.

WTF?

Looks like he was trying to call all of us sheep for not siding with him. Pretty typical. I noticed he didn't post his event as requested, so it was probably garbage as suspected.

Calling people sheep cause you're mad they won't side with you for being outraged that you got whacked for breaking the rules is about the bottom of lame.

I'm sorry, but just becuz we pay doesn't mean we can choose which rules we won't follow for our own convenience. If people are spamming the event listings with non-events, I won't feel sorry for their ass when the Lindens clamp down on it.

The copy of the Police Blotter I'm looking at, in all cases, says - Action Taken: Warning Issued. To me, this just looks like a lot of wrist-slapping for the people who stuff up the list with their never-ending junk entries.

The problem is, Lias, that when people abuse and game social systems... then everybody has to end up suffering. Individuals acting in a selfish way means that we all have to suffer under the weight of the resultant rules and regulation. Just sometimes, being the Blue Sheep is the only responsible way to go.

You do want to be responsible, right? :D

The only 'outrageous' thing is that it hasn't been done before, because of all the calendar abuse.

If you'd have read the rules before posting your advertisment in the Events calendar, you'd have known to expect this.

The question is... have you learnt that you don't post commercial adverts in the events calendar, or now that your account has been flagged once are you looking for a suspension?

If there was an ability to report inappropriate event postings, I would gladly help LL by identifying crap and thus clearing up the calendar so that REAL events can be found and enjoyed by those who wish to, rather than having to wade through page after page of nothingness.

Actually you pay LL to use their product in the ways outlined by the TOS. If you violate the TOS and other guidelines, don't look so surprised if you sanctioned.

It's about time LL started enforcing the rules. Maybe the events calendar will finally get easy to read.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would be happy to respond to this:)
First off, this posting is intended to be constructive, not destructive.
I appear to be one of the offenders in the police blotter and I did receive an email warning this morning.
I have been posting my events since I created Aotearoa/ New Zealand since january 5x a day since JANUARY.
I have had VERY MUCH positive feedback from many people who have come to these events. Saying "Thank you" and how "it is nice to see something so different listed in the events".
"...rated you positively: really enjoyed yor NZ pavillion! really educational, thanks"
"...rated you positively: really really beautiful museum at Aotearoa museum :) Thank you."
"...rated you positively: really enjoyed yor NZ pavillion! really educational, thanks"
"i randomly found your New Zealand area and let me just say WOW, as a kiwi i'm so proud to come here and see something like this."
"...rated you positively: really really beautiful museum at Aotearoa museum :) Thank you."
"hi! your New Zealand exhibition looks great! very organized, and many texts up, very detailed"
"Hi Luthien. You have done such a great job with the Aotearoa Pavilion that you make me homesick. And I live here! Great to see someone educating oters about beautiful NZ."
"It is nice to see something different int he events listing for a change apart from all the usual sex crap."
"Your place is very beautiful. Youve done a great job"
To name a few..
1) My event hosts itself, that is why it is called an INTERACTIVE pavillion, it was purpose built for this as I work 13-14 hour shifts and am often called back into work.
2) I posted my event 5 x a day as stated above since January, this is in order to cater to not only those people on the North American continent but also those in other countries, in other hemispheres, hence the even-ish time intervals between event postings. There are more people on this planet other than people who live in North America.
3) I had NO idea this would be considered spam, and if it is considered spam, why did I never hear from even one Linden about this?
4) I have had several Linden's visit my pavillion, and nothing was said to me online OR in email to date regarding this being spam.
I have never received any complaints from Linden lab about my events posting until today.
During the course of this last week I posted events for Aotearoa/NZ 2x a day and Lothlorien 3x a day, I noticed these had been deleted. I contacted a Linden and they could not shed much light onto it. I had posted a commercial on under commercials, so I realized this must not be allowed. So I changed my posting to be non-commercial in nature for Loth, and those wer deleted also. I again contacted a Linden who asked me if they had certain characteristics, which theydidn;t, and they could not help. Yesteray I reposted my Aotearoa / New Zeland events along with a couple of Loth postings, I came home and found them deleted all but ONE Aotearoa/NZ event. SO again I icontacted a Linden. Thier advice to me was to repost them as "mature". I told them my events were in no way shape or form "mature". They said i should email support at lindenlab, and that a girefer may be doing it. I asked how a griefer could delete event postings. Anyway I told the Linden i would ring the office on Monday mornign and floow thier advice. SO I was too tired and did not repost my events as mature and I went to bed leaving just the one Aotearoa/ New Zealand posting on for today and the following two days.
And just for the record, i alway post classifieds also for my stuff very regularly. Just in case any one reading this thinks I do not.
I arose this morning to be greeted with my only event posting left for the following three days deleted, an IM from a friend telling me to read this forum, and an email from Linden lab stating a warning for spam.
Do they use some kind of mass button or keyword system to find events? There was no duplication left on there, so why were these events cancelled?
It might be an idea if LL could remove the "commercial: section in the events posting that may stop some of the confusion that i am sure is going on where that is concerned.
Linden Lab needs to cater to people who work fulltime + for a living as well as those who live inworld 24/7
Linden Lab could perhaps cater to people who are not just on the continent of North America more,ie: taking world-wide time zones into consideration, although I am aware that probablythe majoirity of users log in under North American times etc.
As an aside when i was building thisPavillion, I contacted Philip Linden and explained what I was building, and suggested it might be anice idea if there oculd be a mosaic fesitval (a cultural festival) held each year in SL, to encourage people from all over the planet to make like minded places of information on where they are from to put on display. he thought it was a good idea and passed this information onto Robin Linden.
Here is a copy of the event I have been posting since January.
Luthien, that's not an event. It's always there, always running and there's no intention to gather people at a specific time.
Compare and contrast with, say, the gameshows at The Shelter (although tonight's Second Fortune at 6pm doesn't seem to be listed in Find) or NCI's Advanced Building class, or any of the other events which are actually a proper group activity. If there's no difference in the experience for visiting during one of your Event time slots and not (i.e. nothing different or special going on in that time), I'd personally argue that it's not really an Event at all.
Your build is probably really nice, and does sound like it's not entirely commercial. That doesn't mean it's an Event of itself. If you picked one or two "prime-time" slots to promote, sorted out a live DJ and plugged it as a Dance Party sort of event, then I'd call that a proper candidate for being listed in Events. (Perhaps not hugely imaginative, but certainly not "cheating".)
Hum, you all say that the content commercial creators should come first, over the average user who comes here to relax and just enjoy the world, instead of working in it. Then you turn around and laught when content creators are punished...
Interesting.
