There is a question nagging me here. If this person was not immature and as intelligent as you state, how did he get found out?

LL found out bacause they moniter IM's and all chats within the whole SL system. Don't ask me how but they can see everything. There is no such thing as privacy in SL. Even if you own a hidden sim.

(COPIED FROM THE TOS) 8.2 Linden Observation. You acknowledge and agree that Linden , in its sole discretion, may track, record, observe or follow any and all of your interactions within the Service.

He told me his age in a IM. I didnt care. To be honest, before finding that out i would have assumed he was in his 40's. For him to be open and honest like that shows he is mature. but as stated, maturity has nothing to do with it. It's 'AGE'. :/

BTW: If age restrictions raise to 60+, I'm sure a lot of lindens would be layed off work. Most of them are probably way younger then that. Some under 25 even. Now... If we raise it to 100+, All the events would be cribbage or bridge. *elvis lip grin* (not to offend anyone i meen nothing bad in saying that lol).

Maybe they found out in his details. I doubt they can track down IMs or chat. Or even credit card details. Most likely his details. That they can track. Either that or he has one of those national ID things.

I see nothing at wrong with the age restriction. Let the halfwits remain in the teen grid and the nitwits remain in the adult grid. :)

I would support the elimination of the age rules if they replaced them with an IQ test.

Minors with a high IQ are still minors for legal purposes. The possession of a high IQ by a minor resident would not protect them from pedophiles nor would it protect LL legally.

Many who misbehave in the forums and inworld, and while we are at it, throughout the world in general have high IQs.

Denying participation in a video simulation program such as this one to people who are intellectually challenged might well be against the law in the United States.

Guess which "video simulation program" you'd be in. :D

They can. he showed me a email from them. It contained chat logs. LL probably searches the chat history for special words. Like 'u-n-d-er-a-g-e', or 't-e-e-n' even variuos other things (notice i used a - in each word to hide them o.-). Which is why now it shows in my profile if anyone has anything private to discuss with me, they should use AIM or YIM.

Why is this thread still going? I already stamped it.

Hmm. One more. Just in case it comes back.

Seriously, though. It's the grandest of pipe dreams that Linden Lab would ever discard this particular ass-covering measure.

Personally I think that LL is playing with fire even having a teen grid and it is a matter of time when they get sewed and everything goes poof.

Other than that, I am of the belief that no child, which is legally what minors are, should have any type of relationship with an adult in a setting like SL.

Put me down for a big fat nay.

Theres been a lot of support for raising the minimum age to 25.. and I was just wondering, from people who support this.. Where would an 18 - 24 year old go? Or do you have something against this age group? :p

Wouldn't that be an interesting scenario? Sort of like Logan's Run with a twist: one day, everyone in that age bracket (which includes me BTW) disappears. The world learns to deal with it... somehow.

Okay now that is scary.

But I still say that teens should keep to the Teen grid for their own safety. ^_^v

It's so true.

Perhaps we could come up with a Dungeons-and-Dragons method of rating people according to multiple qualities, such as cleverness, creativity, dexterity, and ability to pull off a brocade dickey in public. We would then create an n-dimensional target "volume", admitting those whose personality vector fell therein. We could call it "eHarmony.com". Oh wait. Nevermind.

Having some 18-24 age grouping is the most absurd idea I've heard in a long time.

Considering 18-year-olds can access all kinds of "mature" themed things, including R-rated movies, right?

Besides, there is no huge sea-change that occurs between 18 and 25.

I betcha the people who want this are between 25 and 35, lol.

Since, I made the suggestion in this thread first (although others may have suggested it in earlier threads first, I didn't search), I feel compelled to respond.

I’d like to note that I said I’d *almost* like to see the age raised. The reason I said it that way is because I do realize that there are a lot of 18 to 24 year olds who are great residents and handle themselves as good as (if not better than) older adults.

The reason I said it all is because I was somewhat jesting (notice the :p smiley) about having this nagging feeling that if the minimum age could somehow be effectively raised to 25, then a lot of griefing would be reduced. I’m not trying to offend anyone. I realize there would still be griefing from the older residents. I just have this feeling that griefers tend to be younger rather than older.

I sincerely doubt there’s anyway this will ever happen and that doesn’t bother me at all. If, for some very odd reason, this policy ever garnered enough support to be real, I wouldn’t even consider supporting it if it didn’t grandfather in existing under 25 year olds.

Or four to five dots in Intelligence and Wits, one dot in Charisma, and none at all in Etiquette(Second Life). ;)
