Imcompitant Security at the clubs !!!

Why don't weapon toting players just attach to pelvis? Seems somehow more apropos.

Setting aside the specific issue that kicked off this thread, for the moment...

It would be nice if the mention of guns didn't result in people acting all "heir of Freud" about weapons (recall the marching chant from "Full Metal Jacket", about rifles and guns ) being penile extentions/replacements.

Thats a rather blanket statement isn't it? Anyone who carries a weapon must be "Uncivilized" nevermind that one of the major hallmarks of civilization is weaponry and violence. Oh wait someones rationalizing her opinion and attempting to force their own world view on everyone else. Never mind that it not only has no historical context or basis in reality. That is if you have ever studied human nature, but I get the idea that maybe your an idealist (another way of saying someone who doesn't see reality for what it is).

Let me tell you who I am and what I do, I'm lupas, I spend about 95% of my time on SL in the company of my girl dancing shopping and socializing. I also have one of the more powerful weapons and shield systems in the game attached to me at all times. This is not out of any mastabatory pre pubescent urge to be captain badass, but rather a form of self protection. A lot of my favorite shopping points are in combat zones, I often hang in the Jessie area because the redneckery of it all reminds me of home. It behooves me to be protected. It has also saved me from a LOT of griefers, and even more amusing its often fired right back at them (Theres something amusing about having a reactive shield that throws someone when they attempt to throw you). Honestly unless me and Chelle are out playing with our systems these items are never really used (i.e. we're mock fighting eachother). But call me a silly redneck or a student of history "If you want peace, prepare for war" you can have a cookie if you can name who said that.

As for being a macho badass? I don't need a game for that. If I felt the URGE to prove myself I'd place in my profile that I am ex army infantry and have amongst the highest army marksmanship scores in the country. But that would almost be as arrogant as trying to say that anyone who defends themselves in this game is in some way shape or form "immature".

The only other thing I have to say to you miss is this is a "SANDBOX" game. We do what makes each of us happy. If some folks like to shoot at eachother let them be, if some folks like knowing they are protected, let them be. To each their own.

Thank you Lupis and Max atleast i know that there are people outside my friends that see my point!! I still am tryin to figure out where i claimed to be a spelling bee champion or hell a english major. Im sorry my grammar skills suck and its affecting your ability to read my statements!! Thx everybody for your input it helps me understand the views of the other people in game. The main reason i wrote this was to try to get people aware of the club in question! But I found out today that the club is closing thier doors for unknown reasons, hopefullly the owners are just tired of being mocked in world and realized they had no clue how to run a decent business. You guys rock no matter what your opion was haha!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and give you three reasons why you are probably still on the list:

1. Your attitude. You come off as confrontational and belligerent. I already don't like you, even if I agree with some of what you said.

2. Your diatribes are hard to read and your spelling is atrocious. Our only means of conveying our message is through what we type, so it's important to have decent spelling and grammar.

3. Whether you like it or not, weapons and shields in Second Life are generally annoying. I've been griefed by a SHIELD in the past. IMO, scripted weapons and shields have no place in the general public areas of Second Life. They have even LESS place in dance clubs, where every object - visible or not - uses CPU power on the clients' computers. Even objects that are 100% transparent take time to render - and in fact take MORE time to render, because alpha blending requires an extra path through the rendering pipeline.

Having said that, I do agree that "security networks" need to be responsible and have an appeal process. Banning someone for a mistake (not an intentional act of aggression) from literally any popular area in SL is wrong. Spreading an in-world list of "bad people" borders on a TOS violation.

Compose a nice, thoughtful, CORRECTLY SPELLED message to the list creator. If he doesn't remove you from the list, then send an e-mail to Linden Lab (or perhaps use the abuse reporting system). If you indeed did not grief anyone, then you do not deserve to be on a griefer list. I'm sure that you could work this out with the list creator if you are polite, considerate, and USE GOOD ENGLISH. I can't stress enough how important good communication is if you want to get something done.

This time I was real nice and tried the tatical front first, got no where and he became ignorant with me about the deal! If you know me in world or hell even in real life you would know I can be somewhat of a jackass..but..thats just me and most people either (1) ignore it and fire right back or (2) sa something and put me in my place!

All i wanted to get across is there are idiots out there running big clubs and abusing the wrong people! Case in point two nights ago i went with some friends to the same club on a alt so i could monitor what they was goin there for, and because i called somebody a hooch some prick came and orbited me! Other than saying sorry for running into a girl that was all i said in room chat and really hadnt even rezzed out yet! So i asked the guy man what did I do and he was like you called my niece and hooch! Then proceeded to stalk my friends to my personal land! That is the kind of moronic stuff that I'm talking about. This guy wanst even security just a memeber of the staff, but is he gonna get in trouble HELL NO, but now my alt is banned. Just for sayin hooch?

Really? Then why did civilization precede violence upon our fellow man? Violence before civilization was always a survival act us vs nature, that particular struggle will never end. It wasn't until early man formed early civilization, tribal groups et al that true violence upon one another sprang. Usually over what resource this or that civilized group considered its own. Heres the thing, you don't get to foist your own definition of civilization on people just because you think its a pretty word that SHOULD mean more.

With civilization has come plague, war, greed et al. The hunter gatherer of early times did not need to worry about competition amongst early man, the very nature of their violent environment ensured that the competition was unecessary. Everything was a struggle for survival. As civilization popped up competition for resources began as they become more scarce, as competition heats up violence begins. Honestly you nead look no further than the Jessie wars I read of a couple of years back to see these basic concepts in action.

You can't change human nature, until some outside force becomes more deadly than eachother we will always find ways to hurt/maim/kill eachother. Struggle is in our very natures one way or the other. If nature had never intended us to fight we wouldn't have adrenal glands.
