I totally agree with you on this just whenyou hire somebody it creates a job (lol)! My point is there are so many incompitant people running clubs and security that its just annoying I mean I tped to a club and ran to the kitchen to get me some food (this was when everything reattached when you tped btw) and the club owner had a fit and started yellin at me in ims then there "security idiot" came running over and froze me while i was tryin to get the guns and shield off so i stood there like a idiot until I was free to move again and then the owner was like look man youve had enough time your outa here and booted and banned from the club, which i tried to plead my case but to no avail (I guess she was PMS'ing that day)! So her and ger (cough) husband decided to put my name in a "Griefer Ban Network" security orb , along with several know griefers, and sell it. Being the gadget guy i am i purchased it and set it out at my land and poof i was telelported home over and over until i could get a friend to come and take it away(lol that was fun) so i opened the notecard with names found mine and contacted the moron that made it and asked why? He has yet to prove i ever attacked his club or any other club but says he is gonna leave my name in it! Well where im from that defamation of a person, and that in turn should be considered a violation of the TOS! But the moral of the story if the security idiot would have just been communicating with the owner this would have never happened! So here we are talkin about moronic security people once again not having a clue!

I can understand getting nervous that you're not answering but the minute you explained you'd been afk and promised you meant not harm, it would have seemed it should remedy the whole situation. Assuming of course you were polite and simply stated your position and didn't swear and get rude in return. ???

As for the Griefer Ban Network.... I'm not sure how useful a thing like that would be for anyone when it's just as easy to simply insert the names of people you know to be griefers in your land's ban list. How does someone who makes a thing like that know for certain all the names on it are accurate? (last question addressed to anyone who can answer it)

Thats the problem Allana they cant prove that all the names are accurate! They go by what is passed along in a Group and hell when i was security at a club all i had to do is tell the head hey man this person is not abiding by the rules and then that persons name could be put oout to all online memebers of the group.

So basically you can goto a business and do something they dont want you to do and (1) either ignore them and go about your business or (2) try to talk to them and find out why? or (3) tell them look piss off! And your name will go out! I can understand putiing the names out to all online memebers but to create something and put names onna notecard and sell it on SL Exchange where even the people that are on it can buy it and figure out how to beat it (which btw I did finally) is just stupid and asking for a fight!

All im tryin to do here is let people know that they shouldnt have to put up with untrained idiots posseing as security people(once again not guards)! If enough people say hey LL do something about this then maybe they will!

Ummm, I am a Security person for a club. And We can ban people from the club itself, with security orbs, honestly, i like to have a good time with you some stupid ( spelled right) n00b coming in and trying to shoot the place up, casue well, they have nothing else better to do. They have weapon's testing places for that nonsense. And NO a lot of use don't walk around with our weapons on thinking we are tough shit. I myself and my other security crew do our jobs at the club we work at. All I can really say is that, every club in SL needs rules, just like RL laws of society. No rules/laws all hell breaks loose, cause people have no common sense or don't know how to act =)

And as for people being stupod...nice spelling btw...I rather have "toys" then be some slut running around SL like idk what's going on. BTW you guys are runin off topic and shame on you I was tryin to do a legitamate thread where i was tryin to inform the people of SL that they dont have to accept the crazy rules! Yes some of them are good but others are just plain stupid! I mean a friend of mine in game brought it to my attention when him and I were talking about multigadgets and the fact clubs are saying no mg in here, well with about 5 lines of script and a command on a private channel i can pretty much do what i want. All i want is enough ppl to stand and say hey look im tired of incompitant ppl being allowed to tell me im doin something wrong!! Cause really in the R/W you have to have some training to get a job as a security guard, whether it be OJT or school training and if the place you work at is a reputable place they are going to hire jsut any joe blo off the street and thats whats happenin here, the security heads are hiring their friends and ppl that are clueless and act as if they know what is right and wrong! Hell maybe as residents we should implement a system of training ppl to be security like C.L.E.E.T.!!

In the real world you need seven years of university education to be able to competently design buildings. Hasn't stopped me, or others, from doing so in SL.

I agree that most of the time, event organizers and group officers can (and should) handle "security" concerns.

If you've had some 'incidents', however, sometimes it's helpful to have an obvious "Security Personnel" in view who can quickly communicate club/event rules.

As hard as it is to read his posts, i do agree with the OP, in that there are some rather overzealous, Rambo-wannabe, "lookie here how big my piece is! WOOHOOO!" jerks working as 'security' in SL, who will be on you like Oprah on a cheesecake for the slightest *perceived* breach of their policies. Newsflash, Serpico! SL is pretty glitchy sometimes. Lag, sim glitches, etc, sometimes you mean to click one thing in your inventory, and you get something else worn. It happens. No need to go all Snake Plissken on someone who was trying to change their shirt and accidentally put on a weapons harness. Just remind them that it's a "no weapons" policy and to please remove the weapons ASAP. If it happens again, ask them to leave. Unless they draw and start griefing by shooting up the place and other patrons, there's no need to go 'Sands of Iwo Jima' on their ass.

With reference to another thread by the OP as to why residents don't tolerate people with guns, this is precisely why. When will these adolescents learn that their role playing should be confined to designated combat sims ?

Security indeed. Land owners have the tools to eject and ban anyone causing a problem, followed by an abuse report. Anyone "playing" at being security outside a combat sim is as much a part of the problem of residents engaging inappropriate behaviour as the griefers they refer to.
