Cristiano I agree 100% and that was really the reason for this entire poll. Just to show that the whole issue was a personal attack on a person, not really a product.

C'mon, that never happens!

I'm of a simple mind... I have trouble turning on some offline TVs...

FreeView worked easily for me! I read the notecard and then went the website too and I was off and sprinting (or couch potatoeing, whatever)! :)

I am just happy I know how to turn on a television set in Second Life.

Looking at the poll ... With nearly a 92% success rate, CrystalShard's Freeview is actually much more stable as a product than Second Life... :D

SHE SHOOTS...SHE SCORES!

OH SHE WENT THERE!

SHE WENT THERE...SHE TOOK PHOTOS...AND SHE IS BACK HOME IN HER SLIPPERS!

:D

Freeview works great for me. I do want to say that I think there should be a mandatory warning for any link to that nutjob's blog. I read about 4 paragraphs and said to myself this sounds familier so I looked around and finally realized who the blog belonged to... I want that five minutes back damn you! I could have picked my toenails in that time! I could have arranged my sock drawer! I could have dislodged that pesky booger!

CrystalShard is EVOL! Her dance machine killed my prim baby in a freak permissions accident.

It boils down to this. The person in question is claiming that "it doesn't work" because they believe it to extremely difficult, and time consuming, to install and configure. What they mean is that the instructions are presented in such a way that "it doesn't work" for the average, non-technical Second Life resident.

The campaign is not, I hope, aimed at the producer of the technology or the person who wrote the documentation. It is assuredly a small prong in a massive attack against the perception that wiki types should just create technology as they see fit and force it, as is, on the user base.

It's all about building a world in which everybody is on an even playing field technologically. I still don't understand how that might achieved. In many respects, this person is as fanatical as Philip about establishing one world, one community, one country. Their position isn't any more bizarre than LL not implementing P2P teleportation or outbound xml/rpc because they "might be used to grief the community."

Of course I don't expect the posters here to seriously consider and reasonably discuss these things. I don't expect there's any way to satisfy the campaigner either. You all will just keep screaming senselessly at each other until the world falls completely apart.

The poll itself isn't. The part where he tipped to the cause of the poll biased the results.

As for the item in question, apparently it doesn't work most of the time on deeded land. I'm not a land whiz, so I don't know the right terms for it. But there is a problem making it work by renters.

So - the poll isn't biased?

Make your own poll to find out!

Is this poll biased?

To be honest Khamon, I only see screaming (and direct usage of personally targetted cuss words) originating from one side.

He likes to try and ruin other people's (or their businesses) reputations by making all sorts of grand assumptions and accusations - reading the worst possible motivations into every incident.

It's sick, and it's been going on for months. Fling shit incessantly and some is going to get flung back, especially when one does it on that scale.

One really blatant example is claiming that CrystalShard is tying to ruin other TV vendors businesses.

Or that Cristiano harvests IP numbers and then shares them with people so that they can out alts and track people down in RL.

Or that Sensual is really a man.

Or that Ulrika is having a relationship with a Linden.

Or that technically minded people will ruin the world with their Bolshevism.

There are many, many more examples of claims like the above, 99% of them dead wrong character attacks, and/or attacks on people's businesses.

You can't really be serious can you Khamon?

I looked over the script and found it was the infamous USER ID error

if says ID 10T after USER =

we can safely say we found the start of the problems.

One of their major arguements here that free-view didn't work was that it had bad documentation that only Tekki's could understand, and that CS gives no customer support.

Both of which are untrue.

CS gives customer support like crazy, and i'm not a tekki and I got the freeview running in 10 minutes or so from just following the instructions.

And the freeview has worked perfectly for me ever since I got it (and it's gone through 2 patches)
