What is "PG" anyway??? After all, these very forums are SUPPOSED to be "PG" and look at the crap that goes on here. Obvipusly "PG" doesn't mean much.

So why is it your business what *other people* put in their *personal profiles* or put on their *personal land*?



There's a big difference between taking moral standpoints and trying to force them into the lives of others.

Thinking less of me? I couldn't care less. Threatening me with actual infringement upon my life? Quite different.

Because the question asked of me was personal. If it's in-game, it's not personal. If it's in-game for anyone to see, then YOU have a responsibility to ensure that it meets the rules/guidelines. If it does not, then you run the risk of being reported by someone for it.

How is he enforcing anything? Is there some rule that says you must read profiles you find offensive?

I don't know it is until I find it.

Let's take the simple rule that all mature material must be inside. I'm innocently flying around in my little plane, and as I get closer I see a 100mx100 naked woman texture plastered all over a huge box. That happens to offend me, for the purpose of this post.

Now, the rules say that should NOT have happened. The rule is clear - inside, period.

So... who's at fault? Me, for innocently flying and coming across something that shouldn't have even be there, or the user for putting something that clearly broke the rules up where it shouldn't be?

So this is a rule that's been in existence since 2003. The only reason I can see anyone being upset about this is if they're not wanting to play by the rules. The people getting into a tither about this appear to be the ones who have been, or are, breaking that rule. Or maybe you all have my son's philosophy on rules...if you think it's stupid you shouldn't have to follow it.

Some are right, if one were to read something or see something offensive, one can shut the window. But, isn't it a little bit late by then? They've already seen the offensive material, can't un-see it or un-read it.

I honestly don't care what people put in their profiles. The only ones that tend to irk me are the ones that say they aren't into drama, and I not only close the profile window, but I avoid those people because having that in their profile is like telling me they're really a drama magnet.

I don't break the rules, nor have I ever, with regards to profanity or adult subject matter in my profile. I do agree with your son's philosophy. My opinion on rules is whether or not the rule in question prevents something that, in Thomas Jefferson's words, "picks my pocket" or "breaks my leg" then the rule is legit. Otherwise... we're adults and we should be free to be adults.

I find rules like this to be offensive because all it does is condescend to me and treat me like a little child who cannot decide for himself what he wishes to view.

Children should be seen and not heard.

Perhaps you should have read the TOS upon joining then. It's chock full of rules and might have been a great indicator that this perhaps wasn't the community for someone so opposed to them.

Children break rules, adults enforce them.

Considering your profile, I would have thought 'victorian values' would have been part of your roleplay. Evidently you just pick and choose what suits you.

In real life, if you wish to walk around your home naked, you have every right to do so. If you want to go to Walmart, you better put some clothes on first or you'll get arrested for it.

I can see why profiles are PG, because everyone can see them, but they have a box to mark them as mature, maybe a setting where you can ignore mature profiles, maybe replace them with kittens or fluffy clouds or something. The best way I have found of dealing with the pantsless newb with the huge prim wang is to politely inquire "Excuse me, I believe you have misplaced your trousers, were you robbed?" and usually said newb puts his pants back on lol

What is the world coming to.. Think of the live support staff.. What will they do if people start treating each other like adults..



Next time blast the clueless one into orbit and then yell at the newbie until they get mad and you get a good argument going. Otherwise someday soon there might be a bunch of angry laid off support staff out on the street.

Isn't there a box you can check to specify that your profile is mature, so it is not included on the web site?

Why would that feature exist if people are not allowed to have mature profiles? That makes no sense to me.
