Well, I think the problem is too many personal attacks. coco Unfortunately for you, that is a highly subjective opinion. Fortunately, for the rest of us, LL will make those determinations. And more unfortunately for you, you view questions and observations in response to complaints made in the SL public arena as personal attacks. The irony being - you defended Prokofy's "right" to do just that - non-stop. Yes, I am going to keep bringing that up. _____________________

I just felt that she had answered, I had answered, and a Linden had answered. I'm sorry for being too hard-nosed about the whole thing, vis-a-vis any particular individual, including you. OK - but by the same reasoning, if you take away most of the personal attacks, the ego that remains won't matter! Right? Hardly. Without going into a lengthy discussion about psychology, it's all a matter of on what that ego is based. Personal attacks need not be one of those bases. The point of "ego" is shorthand for "egocentrism as based on such attacks." Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to disappear before the Prokofy bombshells start dropping again. _____________________

Well ya know, you haven't been the target of it. That's the difference. I'm talking about personal attacks. The very fact that you blithely assume no one has been subject to them 'like you have' is telling. Very telling. Combined with the apparent will to assume that all commentary which you disagree with is 'negative' and obviously 'not worth consideration', and I think it is pretty clear what the true issue is... and it isn't an interest in fairness. Therein lies the real issue and guess what? It is your issue to resolve. I wish you luck with it. _____________________

I mostly do it when I search for a topic or someone links to another thread, and I simply don't notice the dates (which is fairly frequent, as I typically don't worry about it unless I get puzzled about when something was written due to outdated info). Most of these threads aren't terribly dramatic.
On the other hand, I don't really have a big problem with it either, unless it's done habitually or with the deliberate intent of causing a stir. In which case I have more problem with the person doing it than the practice itself. Aside from that, it's a bit of a tempest in a teapot, as far as I'm concerned. Case in point. I didn't notice that THIS thread was old until after I'd written all of the above. _____________________
