If account sales are against TOS, why are they permitted?

Or they could just remove the account she bought against the rules.

Yes, but she still broke the rules and simply removing the account seems like not even a slap on the hand, she'd do it again but just be more quiet about it. I would think there'd have to be some sort of punishment along with that. So it would be simpler just to ammend the TOS to allow it with permission.

Well since she was publicly seekign accounts in her groups and admitted to people she bought an account, I doubt she will be "quiet" about it. Anshe likes to make a splash. World Domination isn't worth is people don't know about it.

The problem here with Anshe breaking TOS rules is what can they do? If they perma-ban her then they're losing a multi-thousand dollar monthly intake for the island sims and maingrid land property and they suddenly have a few hundred homeless and quite possibly pissed off SLers.

If they did that (and I'm not saying it's a good idea), they could simply contact all the owners of the rented land (they have all their contact details from their SL accounts after all) and tell them to transfer the payments to go to LL instead of Anshe. Even if they kept the prices the same as Anshe's, they'd make all the profit that Anshe's making now.

The reason why Anshe is valuable is nothing to do with the land she's already sold but with the land that she continues to buy. Basically, she (and other land barons) insulate LL against suffering loss if they can't sell all of a sim.

Yes, which is why it's better to just change the TOS instead of making it hush-hush, cause they know Anshe would keep shouting in groups about it.

Yes, that too. I can't imagine what she's paying LL now, but it has to be growing and over 10K USD a month.

(nod) However, my point above was that the amount of tier she pays is irrelevant. Since she makes that all back plus profit from her renters, if for some reason LL wanted to kick her all they'd have to do is approach the renters directly and offer them the same deal. They'd have no reason to refuse - after all, it'd be the same amount of money, more in fact - and LL would make more from them than they do from Anshe now.

Again, land barons are valuable because of what they do in the future, not what they do now.

Alrighty, just to make some things clear:

1. Sofar I bought exactly one account, and that was in agreement with Linden Lab. I was approached by the person selling the account, I did not seek her out.

2. After this purchase I offered to buy "accounts" from other content creators if they leave SL. Wether or not this manifests itself in actual accounts be transfered or in transfer of the inventory of such account to my existing accounts would depend on permission from Lindens, as stated in the TOS

3. All and everything I did here was 100% in accordance with TOS. Whoever claims otherwise here is engaging in slander.

4. Certain other businesses placed ads all over Second Life, in hundreds of sims. In those ads they offer to buy accounts. They do this since months. None of the posters on this thread ever cared.

5. Who knows the original poster knows that this thread is one disguised personal attack

Although this might or might not be the case, I do think we could do with more clarification about this.

In the real world, saying that Microsoft is evil isn't libelling Bill Gates. It seems awkward to suggest that if someone in SL does business under their avatar name, then you can't criticise their business, because it would be the same as a personal attack on the avatar. Are there any clear guidelines for what constitutes a personal attack as opposed to business commentary?

There is a difference in buying product for the intent to resale IMO, because if I bought Item X from Creator A the buyer still knows this is business from Sensual Casanova not Creator A... if you buy the account of Creator A people think you are the original owner of Creator A but you really ar someone that the buyer does not prefer to do business with... see the difference?
That's a little confusing I know, I am even confusing myself.

Also what personal attacks have been mentioned from the original poster? I haven't seen any...

If this is indeed the case then my problem is this...
Why when I call LL do they tell me that we are not allowed to sell/buy/transfer accounts...
What is that makes this situation special and how is it fair to others that have wanted to purchase accounts?
I think LL needs to make this clear to all of us so we can also purchase accounts :)

It's not ok to violate the terms of service, and we'll follow up on that.

Apart from that, it looks like everything has been said, so I'm going to close this thread.
