Is this the future of SL, now there are signs from others collecting around Lazarus's?
What is wrong with the people who want to crap up this world with this garbage?.
I am not for banning them, or taking the stuff down, but I am for publicly shaming them.

From: Dianne Mechanique Another reason why the mainland is ultimately doomed for residential uses. Are you saying that the Lindens are watching us running around in our domed city like a bunch of little lab rats? Oh wait, doomed, nm. The mainland is ultimately doomed anyway. It wouldn't surprise me at all to discover that Lazuras is a Linden alt pushing forward the planned explosion of the mainland. I'm not theorizing that it's true; just saying that it wouldn't surprise me. But yes Nolan, this is part of Second Life. You do have to let the children play somewhere.

Your World. Your Imagination. Your need to be complete prick.
Doesn't he understand that impeaching Bush isn't the answer? You need to get the entire republican power base, tie them up, and let injured veterans and soldier's widows throw stones at them!
Of course, he's just being an ass trying to sell land at this point. I won't make an accusations as to top-tier favortism or the fact that he's an alt to a major baron.

From: Infinite Somme Teen grid? There have been discussions of a suspension grid that griefers could be banished to in order to enjoy their second hell with like-minded farts while LL continued collecting tier from them. It seems a viable solution that would make everyone happy. Teehee I said "farts."

This is a single, reasonably sized prim, sitting on the ground, on plots which are for sale at reasonable prices. Are you objectioning to the fact that if you zoom in on them and look carefully, you can see bare avi breasts? EDIT: P.S. I like you Cris, I just think you are off the mark on this one and would hate to see signage like this getting lumped in with the griefer tactics of Mr. Impeach Bush.

Who is that you aren't going to say he is an alt to? ------------------- The ugly signs to induce high priced purchase are one thing. The ugly cubes signs on large numbers of parcels adjacent to each other seem like a different sort of thing to me. Perhaps I am missing the point to them? Who would want to buy or rent the plots of land the cube signs are on? The surroundings look terrible.

Well I suppose the signs to represent an "Information architecture" that is the cornerstone of using virtual space in ways other than simply aping real world space. Perhaps the signs should be submitted to the next State of play. Although more clever would be to texture the sky and land black and thus avoid the constrains of fake land in virtual real eastate.

I have similar thoughts when those seeking to discuss mainland issues such as privacy, griefing and zoning are offered private islands as a resolution. I waiver between thinking that this emanates from landlords looking for rental clients or from a weary LL who has given up on the notion of our ability to play well with others. From: Khamon Fate But yes Nolan, this is part of Second Life. You do have to let the children play somewhere. Why? If the mainland is doomed, where will the children play?

From: Margaret Mfume If the mainland is doomed, where will the children play? Or to paraphrase; In the name of all that's sacred, won't somebody think about the children? The children will rent space on private islands from landlords who chose to service that market, same as those who want suburbia will rent room on the suburb sims, garden lovers will rent space from garden providing developers, and mixed used fans will rent from mixed use sim providers. Different markets could be served by the same person, and the unit size used to satisfy different market segments doesn't need to be an entire sim. It's too bad we can't move our land.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Or to paraphrase; In the name of all that's sacred, won't somebody think about the children? Perhaps you should not paraphrase partial posts. In no way do I consider the welfare of the "children" to be a high priority. The "Why?" portion of my post was intended to question the validity of the statement "you do have to let the children play somewhere". Particularly following the idea that the mainland is doomed anyway.

impeach bush solution
12-27-2005 11:54
My neighbors and I found a solution to the impeach bush problem we have a very nice residential/medieval setting in Modest we also have the impeach bush guy griefing us at every turn, using friends and alts also he is mad because we found a legal solution to his signs... we have built a stone tower around them so we dont see them at all now, if people would just put up their fav texture on a 60m wall on as many sides as possible of the signs, well you couldnt see them and if all neighbors got together and co-operated in this effort pretty soon most of the signs would not be visible at any level that would matter... just some fuzzy thoughts *edit* oh yeah the tower is phantom'd so he is not blocked off from his property either... we just dont have to look at his garbage, that he is trying to extort $600.00 in real money to take down

For maximum fun see if an invisiprim will make it go bye bye - if so you can fly through and around and never have to look at the stupid things.
Whatever you do though - don't buy - the spammer spams because if just one in thousands responds they make their money - likewise here... let them eat tier.

So what happens when Bush is out of office? Will the signs be replaced with a new graphic? If so can we have a contest to design it?

yep siggy that is what we did... its phantom'd and it falls well within the tos on on our part... of course since it went up we have been nuked, flatulated on, and stolen objects left on our lands, but thats fairly easy to deal with, much easier and less expensive to hit refresh list under objects, and return on any belonging to avatars we dont know then to pay out $600 dollars to get rid of the buttnugget....

Heres a BETTER IDEA. Get the texture key, and set it as the Parcel Media texture. Okay. I'm a dork for thinking that would be cool, but it's the safer of my other ideas that I would be implementing if this jerk moved in next door to me. (He can't extort people if I can't stay logged in.... etc, etc)

Why doesn't this problem seem to affect the older sims? Granted, they're mainly older players, but I'd suggest something else.
Most of the older sims (the originals and the color sims, in particular) are entirely owned by a leader or leaders of a group, or a collabortive effort, and themed. This wasn't intentional, it just happened naturally over time. The new sims will probably head in this direction as these babies get bored with annoying others, and sell off.
Sims that have had very little turnover - with large plots - tend to do the best. Lusk & Perry, Taber, Magenta, Indigo (yeah, yeah), Hawthorne, Boardman, Chartreuse, Slate, and a bunch of others all fall into this crowd.
Remember about 2 years ago when the original north sims (the color sims) were sold off, and how it took a few months for things to "settle down"?
Regards,
-Flip

Regards,
-Flip There's a lot of truth to this as well as to the admonition to wait a few months and the annoyance will likely disappear. The problem is with the percentage of people who try SL and are willing to pay LL while they wait. The retention numbers as well as the decreasing percentage of landowners suggest that this method isn't being bought into. Suggesting that people pay now, enjoy later does not seem like a good business plan to me.
