Oh, for Christ's sake ...
If you entered gibberish as your security answer, it's your own fault if you didn't save it somewhere.
If it's not working, try altering the syntax. The first time I answered the security question I was told it was incorrect too. When I realized that I had entered "Summit Avenue" instead of "Summit Ave." or "Summit" (not the real answer, but a similar example), I got right in and got my password changed. The whole thing took two minutes and was no trouble at all.
Would you rather that LL had done nothing once they realised someone had hacked into their accounts database?
And if you can't get into your account until Monday ... oh well! Read a book. Go see a movie. Cook a fancy meal and have some friends over. Go out to the park and get some sun.
Sheesh!

From: Skye McArdle Well at least then I know I'm not the only one. I did get a reply back from support, that says basically (I'm not gonna quote the whole form letter, and it IS a form letter) that all passwords have been reset, and yadda yadda about going through lost password and info is on the blog.. we've all seen all that already. They obviously didn't even read my problem! I sent it right back to 'em though, see what happens in the next few hours. Then, ironically enough, they send an email about rating the response, which I can't get to because of my password, which is broke ON THEIR END. Durrrrrr. I did save all my alts, just not this main account yet. Gads. Yup same as me Skye - in my case it's my main alt account (is there such a thing??) which has all land holdings, cash, etc etc I too am waiting for a follow-up reply. Would it have killed them though, that rather than just nuke our passwords, they had a message like: "Dear Residents, due to our networking guys not having the first clue about network security and leaving a gaping wide hole in our network, some hacker somewhere has seen all your info. It would be in your best interests to change your password. You will receive no more warnings - if you don't change it and get hacked - don't come crying to us. Due to the fact we fucked up, our support staff will be available around the clock to deal with any issues." Just thinking if we had a security breach at work and we said to our directors who couldn't log in for whatever reason "We can help you on Monday but not now". Whole load of us would be down the job center within hours. Situation like this it should be all hands to the pumps until the last customer is satisfied.

Security Question Answer is CASE SENSITIVE
09-08-2006 15:43
Guys, I got this from Pierre-Luc Linden regarding your security question answer that you give.. Greetings,
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately we cant do anything further to assist you besides the actions mentioned in the blog entry at http://blog.secondlife.com/ ("Urgent Security Announcement" and follow ups) and the previous mail.( If the security question doesn't seem to work, please note the answer is case-sensitive.)So it IS case sensitive, if that helps anyone (didnt resolve my issue at all but maybe someone else might find that info useful.) Thanks!

From: Jeska Linden We are unable to change passwords for those who do not know their security answer or who did not supply a valid email address at this time. Phone support for password issues will be available Monday, September 11. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you all for your patience during this situation. For the most up-to-date information, please check the Official Linden Blog . Way to weed out the userbase LL...
