Take a number, join the line, and then kill the fuckers.

Seriously, there's nothing we can do, and that feeling is not to my taste at all.

Wait till monday like the rest of us?

I never trusted putting in the right information for security questions because that is how someone hacked an email account I had so nowI type in gibberish when it comes to such things.

You'd think that like every other place, your capability of accessing your email is validation enough?

We are unable to change passwords for those who do not know their security answer or who did not supply a valid email address at this time. Phone support for password issues will be available Monday, September 11. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you all for your patience during this situation. Oops. Next time, save the gibberish somewhere.

Wow! What a nice, neatly packaged-with-a-pretty-bow kind of reply.

/end sarcasm

*sighs, shakes her head and hopes we can all get back into SL* If just to retrieve our lindens and cash out forever. :\

Because LL don't care enough about their customers to put in any effort or even prepare beforehand.

Ok, I can go with being inconvenienced if you blew off security of your own accord, but I get an error saying "we do not have a security question on file for your account" and pointing me to support. I keep up with my own stuffs. This is not because I put in bogus info and don't keep proper records, it's a glitch on the server end apparently (since the security question is a required field). I would like it fixed please.

Heh, this is lovely. I have no idea what i put in for my security question as I never thought I'd have to use it, and have had no reason to in the course of over a year . Aparently it's not the right answer though, so now i'm stuck sitting here till monday because the company did not think that I was competent enough to change my own bloody password. Just wonderful. Thanks for blowing my worktime this weekend LL. <sighs>

From Merlin Oddfellow :

Merlin (Myrddyn) dit :
Asking for the "personal quesion" is just insane. Do you really think we remember what we wrote and the way we wrote it after months and more ? No site EVER used the safety question ONLY. It's just in case you forget password and email addy... but here...The addy should be enough especially for people having payment info on file. What do you want us to do ? Make international phonecalls...monday ?
Merlin (Myrddyn) dit :
No way ! If i do have something to do monday, it will be to block my credit card payments. And you'll lose my monthly membership, my tier and have me make LOTS of advertizement about SL, believe me
Merlin (Myrddyn) dit :
I'm sure i won't be the only one
Merlin (Myrddyn) dit :
So i DEMAND you fix that crap NOW, not monday

I'm just the messenger, but let me say you one thing, my boy friend is also out of game !!!

Security Question Not on File
09-08-2006 12:37
I feel for you Skye, "security question not on file" for one of my accounts too. And for people with a single account, they can't even get on the forums to rant on the last day they're open (errr, sorry, the last day the really useful ones are open).

It's a required field! Did you lose it? Did certain ones of those get hacked too and so are now deleted?

Monday Morning: bo ba beep, we're sorry...the number 1 8 0 0 9 6 1 6 8 5 1, has had its phone lines melt. New ones will be installed as soon as possible, I repeat, the number...

consumer's defense association in SL
09-08-2006 12:45
Let's create a group of all who can have an alt log in... the one who don't have alts ? Create one. Meet. Discuss. Make a consumer's defense association in SL, and let's all define a strategy. Involving cutting paiments to LL ! When it comes to lag and bugs, they never listen. Let's make them listen NOW !

Here's one consolation, maybe. I am absolutely sure that everyone who has a legitimate account who can't get back into it will be able, by phone, to provide enough info to the Lindens that they will know that you are really you, and you WILL get your account back.

Well at least then I know I'm not the only one. I did get a reply back from support, that says basically (I'm not gonna quote the whole form letter, and it IS a form letter) that all passwords have been reset, and yadda yadda about going through lost password and info is on the blog.. we've all seen all that already. They obviously didn't even read my problem! :( I sent it right back to 'em though, see what happens in the next few hours. Then, ironically enough, they send an email about rating the response, which I can't get to because of my password, which is broke ON THEIR END. Durrrrrr.

I did save all my alts, just not this main account yet. Gads.

I have a habit of just mashing keys at random for secret questions, ironically for security reasons.

How can they do this to a kitten? :(

same here. Don't feel bad though because security questions are usually used in case you forgot your password and not used in this situation.

It's called a "cooling off period"
09-08-2006 13:32
LL knew you'd be angry, they probably are seriously embarrassed and angry too, cuz they have to listen to us all gripe. (I'm ok, I remember my answers), but I think this is also to let all the hot heads cool off.

They are people afterall...

*Steps off soapbox*

This truly sucks though. And it shows a true lack of customer service...I'm not surprised. Truth is, they have most of us hooked and they know it, if people started to leave, and stay gone, they might believe us...but we won't. Right? Nope, we won't. Cuz we are ADDICTS. Say it with me now.

But the truth? a security issue like this, one would think they would have a crew to work through the weekend, (busiest time) to get something of this magnitude sorted and fixed. Their issue, crappy customer service. /me sighs

hun if you think people aren't gonna be just as pissed on Monday as they are now, you are mistaken. for some it will mean that they will have to go out ans buy a calling card for the pleasure of sittin on hold, for others it means rearranging thier schedules. so no i believe people will be even MORE po'ed than they are now. if LL was aware of the problem on the 6th they should have been ready on the 8th with the solution.
