Ok, but seriously, I'm pretty sure that the map doesn't take the texture itself into account, it looks like it does a sampling of the overall color... Meaning you would have to make seperate prims for each color, ect. Or I could be wrong.

If it's just as easy as sticking a texture on large prims and offsetting the texture (like people do with Quicktime movie screens to get a bigger-than10x10 screen), then bah, nevermind...

BUT, if it's anything more complex than that, I've got another L$1,000 to throw in to the first person to build us a nice can-o-map spam, provided they then sell it for free or no more than L$10 so we all may properly spam the map.

Maybe these skytags, "roof art", will become akin to sort of a graffiti form in SL. Some of us have seen it done before via land editing tool. Back then (just a few weeks ago, actually), it wasn't so colorful, but the 1.7 map brings bounties of colors. Zoom magnitude is still limited, but there are beautiful things to be found.

What are some specific art of roof art that you've enjoyed? Name 'em here!

-RICX written in Nepessing, a highlight of RICX's FINE JEWELRY which I was at to check out the Security Guard chairs.

-Hi! written in Ginko City. Those friendly Ginko peeps!

-HUH? written in Welsh, altho its effect is a bit blurred by a red balloon there.

It doesn't - you would have to use a prim for each color.

how big does the roof art have to be to be viewable on the map when it's zoomed to the max, i wonder? 50x50? 100x100?

<starts having crazy ideas about what art to put up :D>

A 10x10 cube shows up as juuuust barely about big enough to squeeze in a letter, tho I'd go a little bigger than that...

what do you mean by "zoomed to the max"? Zoomed in as close as it will go, or zoomed out as far as it will go?

I think that even when zoomed in all the way, a single 10x10 prim isn't enough for one letter...

now we're all going to have to go and experiment with prim-writing! :D

what if someone created something in a mature sim following all previous regulations regarding mature content and it was visible from space and thus the map, have they violated the TOS? Are you no longer allowed to create large scale mature objects that would otherwise not be visible from a PG sim due to the map view?
This is a good point. Perhaps instead of not allowing people to build the objects a flag for parcels to hide or show objects on the map view?

Only one problem with this contest.. Does anyone know how long it takes the map images to update? I went to the sandboxes to try my hand at a spam can, when I realized it might not show up on the map for goodness knows how long.
