From: Damien Took It's funny you post this because I was just working on a project to market to people like you. Kane, IM me in world or email me. I may have something to help with your advertising. It is almost complete with very successful tests. We can discuss the "rules" of my method if you are interested. sounds good.

This is a perfect example of why I love p2p tp. You say you dont have a business model yet, you dont really sell anything, but you know for sure you would have made your money back by the traffic a telehub brings. 1)Not all telehubs are high traffic 2)Be mad at the person who knowingly took advatage of you, not mad at LL. 3)Try to have a creative idea before you make some kind of semi-major investment. 4)WE DON'T NEED ANYMORE UGLY MALLS. 5)Check out my new blogger page for my opinions on this topic

Dont complain about the thread being bumped. There could be others in your shoes that dont know whats coming yet. This thread could help inform them reguardless of your issue being resolved.

From: Kane Kent I just spent 40 grand on a spot at a telehub now people can just warp anywhere I will lose the traffic I would be getting.
Well it maybe not out tomorrow but still man I know a lot of people worked hard will lose a lot this aint fair at all. Thats like owning a buisness downtown and then the city removes all the roads to it. I would not bet heavily on this. I remain unconvinced that telehubs have the magical effect of bring people to your store. I pass over plenty of malls and shops on my way to where I want to go, never having stopped once. If you havea product that people want, they will search you out, or you must advertise. Also it remains uncertain what will replace telehub land. I would wait and see.

Since I started second life I have heard maybe 20 friends swear that they were "fed up" and "leaving forever." Out of those folks, the number that actually quit and never came back (even as an alt)....? zero. your just mad (maybe in both senses of the word)

From: Kane Kent lmao you own a boat ? I think I just got land beside you last night lol Since you've brought up the topic of boats... Twice in this thread you have referred to others being in the same vote; the saying is "in the same boat" not vote. It's like finding out the lyrics to a song you've been incorrectly singing along with for years. (Btw, one man, one vote. )

Bah, not a good enough reason to leave. I see too many people who -aren't- near telehubs making a good living, so how come that means you cant?
But, on second thought, if you are really leaving, and I cant change your mind with simple one-liners, please consider the needs of a new resident (myself), and generously donate a portion of your remaining lindens, I would be muchly appreciative, and It goes twoards a good cause... my continued importation of classical literature into SL in prim book format.
Of course its all up to you... (If I were you, Id stay... the challenge of business, for me, has always been the fun part =)

I do understand your frustration. However, since I started playing the game there was only one time where I went exploring at the stores around the telehub. I was lagged so bad that I felt like my avatar was walking through mud. Needless to say, I was so frustrated that I got out of there as fast as I could. Frankly everytime I teleport into a telehub area it takes me FOREVER to get out of there and off to wherever it is I am trying to get to. So, I for one really won't be too sad if they do away with telehubs.

Let's see what we'll be faced with. thanks Orange, http://www.8orange.comKindly hosted space by Acedia Albion and Analogue.

Thats like owning a buisness downtown and then the city removes all the roads to it. Sorry you got ripped off. Just being by a telehub does not guarantee you traffic. People have to stay on your land for more than 5 minutes to generate traffic. It may not be a loss if you provide a product and events that people want and will come to your property for. Honestly what this change does is make designers, creators, and sales-people rely on quality rather than location. Hopefully this means that the quality of products around hubs will go up. They do have plans to utilize the hubs in a way that should get people to continue to frequent the areas so it may not be a complete loss for you and your friends. Good luck! *edit* That entire sim is WAY overpriced!!!! Seriously WAY WAY WAY overpriced...38,000 for a 1024 plot??? YIKES! One sim over a 2048 plot is only 17,000... I just hope the owner of that sim figures out to sell those plots he's going to have to WAY lower the price!

From: Kane Kent lmao you own a boat ? I think I just got land beside you last night lol Nope Little island on the Far SE corner of Solang beside Miru. There's two small island sims and an ocean sim as my three 'neighbours'... pretty much may as well say I've got three ocean sims around me, the other sims, save Miru, are all seperated by water. I do have to fly over a ghastly zillion-prim mall to get there, that (even with the new patch and new loading texture) does NOT load up until I'm helplessly lost inside its maze-like walls.

I've been thinking about what it'd take to have made telehubs work.
LL wanted people to hang out in telehubs, and then build from there.
And I thought... where do people hang out DOING things? WHere can you ALWAYS find people?
Sandboxes.
All the telehubs should have been the sandbox sims.

And I thought... where do people hang out DOING things? WHere can you ALWAYS find people? Sandboxes. All the telehubs should have been the sandbox sims. This is a wonderful thoughtline. I share your view. To create something not only requires space, but time. Unfortunately, there may have been some technical background as to why this was not done in the first place: as I understand it, when SL was first expanding, with lots of growing pains, a big whoop was made when just a few new sims were added. Land, not being so ample, was a scarcer "resource". Now, tons of new sims are added, eyes are hardly blinked. With the addition of Heterocera Atoll to the north, that attitude traditionally came to an end. One example I'll point to is Sandbox Island (formerly "Island Sandbox" . It was requested about for at least almost a year, with reasons including replicating drones getting out of hand and infesting the mainland, or towers from a sandbox falling onto neighboring property and annoying. The isolation would make it a safer place to work. It finally came true, much later. Same goes for the changed placement of the Combat Sandboxes. This, too, was asked about for a long time. I could see how a generous buffer zone around some telehubs could have been transformed into sandbox areas, but even with the large sandboxes today, Resis are sometimes cramped for space and spread out across the boundaries.
