Do you have to keep insulting people here? I want to take your criticisms seriously, but its hard to with the hateful rhetoric. And your rhetoric has been consistently hotter than that which has targetted you.

I did not start the insults, but once they hit the table, I have no issue returning them.

But don't fret, having recently been reminded the futility of trying to show people something they do not wish to see, I'm content to count my blessings that I did not proceed as planned, else I'd have lost more than my temper in this. :)

Regardless, even if LL were to fail, there are a lot of alternatives that will take up the slack.

Persuing a business model which works with LL will likely work elsewhere, so none of it is failed effort.

My only concern is for people who've made extensive investments in land. However, one would hope that LL would go to some length to make the software available to them.

"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches."

How can you say you're showing people anything besides your own opinion if you refuse to back it up with any sort of facts?

The most successful software company in the world does a piss-poor job on all these points. Particularly the first three. Why do you expect Linden Labs to do any better?
Yes, it's true, I have a blog now!

Sure, April. And maybe tomorrow morning, Bill Gates will decide to save Linden Labs from their own mismanagement by pumping them full of capital so they can actually staff as needed to develop and support the product and service.
Could happen. I hope not, based on what I've seen happen to other products that Microsoft has invested in, but it could happen.

Incorporate the havok engine into Son-of-Longhorn and render windows onto prims, using the new Mac-style graphics API they're putting into Longhorn, and Windows could end up with a 3d user interface... but you'll have to code in VBscript or learn how to write real-time code in .NET.
