Why do all the male AOs suck?

I've been looking around for about 2 hours and I have been to about 10 difference places. All the male AOs that I have found absolutely suck. They are overly macho and ghetto. Anyone have suggestions to good places?

Amen to that. Ditto the majority of male clothes - you generally have to choose between looking like you're a gangsta wannabee, or looking like you just stepped out of a gay leather bar. Very little to choose from in between.

Oh - I forgot - there's also the "lovely" argyll golf sweater options. Charming.

And yes - if you do happen to find any half way decent male walking/standing/doing anything anims that DON'T scream macho pimp-tosterone, I'd be keen to find out where they are too.

I got my walk at Reverie, and it's not too bad. I have yet to find any male "stand" animations that don't suck though. I'm still living with the defaults.

My best advice is to buy $50 worth of Lindens, open up your apperance settings, click the button over to "girl", and knock yourself out with the new shopping options.

Ah yes, the golf clothes option, I forgot about that one.

Yes, the AOs suck Nimrod, I've got some bastardised one which I hate, and can never find any good anims. They all end up looking like some uptight cartoon gangster. Where's the options for I just wanna be a guy you know?

(I like Elephant Outfitters too. My alts don't mind it either.)

Reverie male is SHITE! it makes your avatar look like he's holding his stomach from sickness.. or posing like a wanker.. female one is nice though IMO

I disagree about the Reverie AO being crap. I think it's the best out there and so do all the guys I've talked to.

I use a set from Torrid for my idle poses, I've never bothered to replace any others, but I know Abramations has a few that are pretty decent.

For more "normal" mens clothes, try Barnesworth and Robin, two of my favorites.

Same reason all the women's anims suck, I'd reckon.

I decided to make my own animations (though my av isnt male. but being Bi, i gota act male sorta ). I'm not good at framed animations, just still poses. I managed to get a good stand pose that i think would work for both male and female. Probably not what your wanting though. It has me leaning foreward with my arms crossed and legs forked to the sides. I have a few others but their more on the cute side. For movements like walking/running i just use default cuz i dont like most the ones i've seen.

I have a male alt though, and he uses a ghetto one called urban ape. but that's his style so hehe.

Well, yes - there's absolutely nothing at all wrong with gay leather bars, per se. Just not particularly inclined to look like I've just staggered out of one.

Heh, the most I had at one time was a decent Pinstripe suit. Not much for males in SL in the way of clothing.

I'd take up the challenge of creating normal male anims for an AO but I really really REALLY hate dealing with Poser!! It's like some wacked out Hippie-Bob-Ross type came up with the interface!!

Still begging LL to come up with alternatives like 3D Studio MAX w/ Character Studio.

Check out DNA at Lost Dog. I picked it up on SLExchange. It is not all ganster or macho. Though there is one animation where I tend to look up at the ceiling for a min for no reason. Other then that it looks more natural then any I have used.

And count me as a girl who might like a normal male AO, since all female AOs seem doomed to be hopelessly girly. I do not want a sexy walk, dammit.

I agree, Reverie male stand poses really are shite. Half of them make you look like The Hunchback of Second Life. The walk and run are pretty good, though.

What you should get is the Wet Ikon AO device, which I believe is available at Reverie for free, but empty. Then assemble your own favourite standing, sitting and flying poses from various other venues. I got my stands from Bits and Bobs, others from ANOmations or Abranimations. Edit the notecard in the AO unit to determine which poses go where, and load the poses into the AO, and you're all set.

And some of the female standing poses are pretty nice, especially if you're gay.

I'm still tweaking my AO, but it's almost there... it takes a bit of work!

Ya, the females look pretty hot...even thier clothes.

My character is supposed to be a healty rockstar, but it keeps looking more like, between Rick Ocassick(from the Cars) or a transexual vampire.

Im not sure what the SL population consists of but i would guess that you make atleast, if not more much more than, 50% of the population.

Some of you even use the pathetic excuse of using a female av because you cant find clothes for males, and fashions are so much nicer for females.

Hey I have a novel idea for you ... instead of complaining about what you dont have and how we have it so much better than you, why don't you start designing clothes and accessories for yourselves?

It's not like females are the only ones capable of using PSP and designing clothes in SL is it?
