Please keep the classified forum!
I like to browse them at work. I don't feel like sifting through ads in SL when I could be making something in world instead. Removing the classified forums would be taking away my means of keeping up to date with all the great stuff people make.

Please keep the classifieds. As a beginning designer, I do not have the cash to afford advertising fees. The classifieds forum is a nice, free alternative. Please reconsider this idiotic L$ sink.

While the new classified options in SL 1.7 are an improvement, they are still not nearly as convenient or browseable as a web based medium. The current Finder in SL neeeds to be completely overhauled. Right now, the classified forums, while problematic because of your refusal to switch them to thread creation sorting instead of last post sorting, at least is a level playing field. To simply remove them and force everyone to pay $250L to advertise seems less progress and more just an attempt to sell more L$ to bolster the economy. There is no reason the classified forums can't remain as a supplement to inworld advertising, especially when the new system is hardly ideal. The forums allow for much larger images, formatted text, and linking, and a far better presentation than the new classifieds system does. It is a major step backward to close the classifieds. Please reconsider this decision. (edited cristiano's post to highlight certain points) he said it much better than i could. and i agree 100%! _____________________

I agree with Cris totally and am heading over to SLU right now to start advertising there. Cristiano is quite the diplomat in this though if you ask me. His forums at SLU have all of this for classifed advertising in a much more manageable fashion as well. LL will lose out on this.

Agreed - The classified forums serve a purpose and serve SL customers either way. I look at the classified forums from work and I look at the other ads when I am in world. (Where I can't go from work). I can see adding a feature, but why take one away?

How does losing out on this hurt LL? The forums are an expense, no? An expense that does little for LL. As such methinks it is doomed. For those who don't understand that it's all about the bottom line, this is a mystery.... most inclined to 'get it' did so when the new ToS went up, though many cling hopefully to the notion that it really isn't going to become *that* commercial. I didn't land here during 'the good ole days' and hence, have no issue in pointing out..... (pausing and changing her mind).... well let's just say the days of LL being accessible in that manner are, if not over, then greatly diminished. |

The only justification for calling it an expense is if the announcement had stated that the FORUMS were closing. Really, I don't think the bandwidth/storage space for that section of the forum hurts LL one little bit. The downside as seen from the increasing uproar is based on the little guy who is trying to get started. Spending money all over the grid for rental spaces, texture/sound uploads and now paying LL yet more to advertise with them for this right to get buried in a sea of ads by the big guys. I agree with the spam deal. The inworld ads will garner business for well established folks who will spend the money/have the money. Not everyone will/wants to buy Lindens ya know. Just my .02+ though. _____________________

Well, I guess I have less than two weeks to get my new buildings packaged up and out in the world for sale somewhere so I can advertise that mini castle and three spacious residential homes for sale in the classifieds forum before it's too late.

I really don't understand why someone even thought that closing the Classifieds was a good idea. I am a Shopping Queen and I rely on viewing the Classifieds to see what is new. I consider the Classifieds to be a catalog of sorts. I browse them while I am at work and when I see something I want, I write it down and then go in world when I'm off work and purchase said items. If I have to waste my time going from store to store or looking up ads then I will not be buying as much. The Classifieds are my way of organizing what I want to go buy and then go on my merry way. I'm not gonna spend all of my in world time running around like a chicken with my head cut off searching for things. I do have other things to do.
I feel that if I don't see what is for sale in the Classifieds then I just won't bother buying anything. This will put an impact on the creators because people will not be buying as much. I know a lot of people who come here especially to look at the Classifieds and see what is new, and they don't post on the forums. They see what they want to buy, and move on. It is more than obvious that most everybody is pissed off about this change. LL, you need to reconsider what you are doing. You are doing nothing but hurting the buyers and the sellers... This will not end well... _____________________
